Re: Collaborative Route Building
There have been plenty of collaborative route builds in the past - for example S&C and Potteries Loop Line. Like any project involving multiple people there has to be a structure and plan right from the outset or lots of man hours will be wasted. If I were you I would keep an eye on Trainz Next:...

Re: The 'Other Sim'
Very diplomatically put! Reading elsewhere the TSW beta seems to be getting about 50% for and 50% against, probably best to wait and see what the finished sim is like before getting too excited. ;) Which I suspect some of those who jumped in head first to TMR17 are now wishing they had done. Seems ...

Re: Older versions of Trainz - worth buying
I think what PerRock is referring to is the fact that you can get the S&C as an add-on for later versions of Trainz (it's now TANE compatible), rather than purchasing it as a standalone edition. OK thanks, I bought it when it first came out - great selection of extra assets and many many more o...

Re: Older versions of Trainz - worth buying
Unless you have compulsory collectivitus it's not worth the bother. You can get pills for it anyway !Briggsy wrote:Thanks guys, so basically, not worth bothering then as I already have TS12 and Tane.
TC 3 has some great extra locos & stock though.

Re: Older versions of Trainz - worth buying
My view would be to buy what you fancy, BUT: 1) Get 1.1 which is totally free, just to see what it was like ! 2) Most old hands swear by 2004 as the best ever version. 3) Ignore 2006/9/ and maybe 10. 4) Get TS12 if your PC is not up to standard for TANE and start saving for a new PC :P 5) Otherwise ...

@ Itareus, hope that's better news for you. :D Might manage a day trip to Hunstanton now :). Version compatibility issues should be resolved in SP2, why the versions are out of step I have no idea ! Tech guys not talking to the commercial dept and vice versa ? Comments on the layout welcome, I'm al...

And what should we call the newly 'united' organisations ?
How about 'British Railways' ?
What a shambles, and we are paying through the nose for it.

Re: Trainz Model Railroad 2017
Oh, NOW you have upset me Gamerouche, I was relying on the royalties from 'Appen' (as part of theTMR package) to supplement my miserable railway pension. Will have to cancel the birthday trip to Barbados to celebrate my 65th birthday and have a bottle of super strong cider on the park bench with all...

Re: Upgrading - will older assets still work?
Dan, Most assets will work OK and there is a further phase of the asset repair program underway which should sort out most of the fixable problems in the remaining problem assets. What you MUST check before going to TANE (or TMR) is that your computer is up to the specs required - check out by looki...

3D train simulation
Hi, Having been a railwayman and a railway modeller for many, many years I discovered a product called 'Trainz' back in about 2005 at Alley Palley model show. Although I still model 'for real' - G scale in the garden and 00 in the spare room; I have also been getting excellent layouts into Trainz as...

If I was you I would ditch GMax and start learning Blender, will be your best bet for the future.

Blender is free, fully functional but still under development, and well supported.

Beer, Beer, Glorious Beer, nothing quite like it for giving you cheer ! To say nothing of the head the morning after. Now I'm retired I stick STRICTLY to Southern Comfort and lemonade, I can drink a whole one of each before I fall over. Physicians of every kind will ask you about alcohol consumption...

Re: How many members are using older versions of Trainz Sim
Installed and in use on mine are TANE + add on assets from earlier releases and the odd bit of payware.
If your computer can cope why look back at older releases ?
Computer not up to spec ? Start saving your pennies.
Just a personal view.
