So true , I'm sure the GWR used to hire one of those big old airships , fly over the railway and just drop the signals from a great height . Road learning on the Western and you'd always hear "see that signal over there in the field behind the tree ..... yes ..... that ours !! "cyberdonblue wrote:
You always had to be wary on the "Western" anyway. They'd plant signals just about anywhere, in the most ridiculous places. Worcester used to frighten a lot of blokes because they hid a couple of the mainline signals in the sidings. It caught a few out over the years because it just wasn't obvious if you didn't have the right knowledge. Here I go, reminiscing again... sorry

Worcester : I used to hate going there , though most of the time us rusty buffer men went round the back of the station on the through goods , the only worry then was stopping at the ground frame operated semaphores , Simple enough you'd think at 15 mph but they still caught out a few drivers and there was always prying eyes watching from over by the station ready to report drivers who ran by .
GWR / Western = Upside down signals
Excellent shots all and Droitwich looks spot on
EDIT : Save double posting here some screenshots
