February 2017 Screenshots
Just a quick half a dozen to get February's collection rolling. The W I P is proceeding well. Please note klambert's excellent GCR station buildings (with night mode.) I believe Karl is about to release these to the DLS - and they are well worth looking out for too.
Cheers

Very familiar line, for me! Have you remembered to include the cross-over at Great Missenden?

Re: February 2017 Screenshots
At the south end of the station, yes electra, and the old signal box too . They're just out of shot in the first picture. I was undecided at first about whether or not I should put the old semaphores in but I settled for colour light in the end for ease. There is still much to do and if the route is ever going to be uploaded then I think colour light signalling throughout will be more straightforward.

What sort of era are you looking at modelling? I'm guessing mid-80s, prior to the arrival of NSE?cyberdonblue wrote:At the south end of the station, yes electra, and the old signal box too . Sorry for the questions in a screenshot thread, peeps - the line's of special interest, as it was my local line when I was a kid and several of my family worked on it, at various times.

Re: February 2017 Screenshots
As you've probably noticed from my comments in the forum generally, I'm not a great fan of the modern colour schemes and companies. However, I've tried to keep the route as general as possible in order for it to be as inclusive as possible. Overall it does have a very 1980's/1990's feel to it though, in my opinion anyway. You may feel different when you see it completed.
The problem is that, occasionally, things like the road alongside Wendover station (pictured below [wip]) tend to give things a much more modern feel (as someone who knows the real route very well you may feel differently; I'm not sure how old that road might be but I don't want to get involved in so much research that I haven't got time to do any work.) Although I travelled over the route a couple of times in the early 1980's, I have no reliable memories of areas such as Wendover - or some of the LT sights closer to London - so I have just taken the easy option and put down what is there currently, unless I can lay my hands on something specific that shows me an accurate depiction of the 80's/90's timeline. Aylesbury itself has a very modern feel to it but Marylebone is very definitely 80's/90's.
I've looked at various options throughout the route but I don't want this to become a lifetime's work. I just want to give people the pleasure of using a very beautiful route with the option of perhaps driving a few LT trains too. Therefore I have had to use a fair bit of "artistic licence" at times but I've tried to stay as faithful as possible to the genuine surroundings that I'm depicting in order to keep things honest - Finchley Road pre-Sainsbury's being one example.
There's still a lot to do; station canopies are under construction, various other buildings too without giving too much away, and scenery by the trainload to put down. The track itself is complete - except for the Chesham Branch and one of the LT branches - so the detail is what is now taking up the time. I hope you'll enjoy it when you see - with luck, later this year.
Cheers
Dave

Re: February 2017 Screenshots
Wendover bypass was built in 1996/1997.
There used to be allotments at the north end of the Aylesbury platform, which was accessed from the platform itself. My step dad, who was the booking clerk at Wendover, used to grow his veg in there. To carry on that theme, my mum worked the signal box there, until closure in 1984, and my dad was, until transferring up north, a driver at Aylesbury.
It goes without saying, I'm looking forward to having a play around with the route, once you've released it to the DLS

Re: February 2017 Screenshots
Just a few from me, now I've managed to get TS12 up and running on my new rig:
It's unusually quiet here at Hayden Hill, hopefully that doesn't mean delays on the line...
A class 478/8 leads a local service in from the Northern Mainline towards Hayden Central. The line on the flyover takes trains from the Citylink over the NML and to Arboury.
Seen here from a different angle, 478816 makes up the trailing unit, still in its special livery
Looking towards Hayden Central
Looking towards Mettingham and the north
A class 222 passes through on the fast lines
