TANE shader modification

Post by PFX »

For TANE build 94916 users, I'm not sure if you've seen this thread on the N3V forum but Brendan's mods make a huge difference to atmosphere. I'd try them myself but I'm on a newer build. If you do try them, be careful to follow Brendan's advice.

It looks absolutely superb, Innis. I may well even be brave enough to try it out when I find time. However, if one man can do this to improve T:ANE so much then it begs the question, "Just what have N3V been doing from Monday to Friday every week?" (Apart from playing with their new toy, of course.)

Cheers

Gawd knows what it's supposed to be! It rotates as you are looking at it though. TRS19 seems to a lot more controllable regarding environmental settings than TANE is though and the actual shaders seem to have been re-done.

Difficult I would imagine to get shader settings to suit all from default as Australia, the US and Europe / UK would require totally different settings anyway, plus a lot also depends on the Graphics card and Monitor.

If we could save the settings in the Developer Post Processing Settings, as promised at some point by N3V which is also really tweaking the shaders, the problem wouldn't exist, I live in hope.......

I've installed most of the shader mods and it certainly seems better visually :D

Autumn 16:45 with weather type "Rainy"

Autumn 19:00 weather set back to "clear"

These where taken fairly quickly after applying the mods and I still had to manipulate the various colours in the surveyor environment settings ,
Plus I had to turn on the Sun in the post processing settings .

Image sizes are at 800x500 to keep within forum rules and because of that please note that Flickr seems to add some sharpness to smaller size images .

EDIT : I'll add in this harbour sunset shot showing the water mods

They look good. I know that the mods have been tried on later versions so there's not much point in me attempting it at the moment.

Thanks, PFX, for pointing us in the direction of this; I don't think I'd have ever come across it myself! It certainly looks like a vast improvement to the current state of T:ANE SP3.

It begs the question: Do I update to T:ANE SP3 HF1 or do I leave my T:ANE SP3 'as is' - I don't know what T:ANE SP3 HF1 will bring in improvement, if any! Oh, the dilemma!

Here is the Calstock Viaduct with the new water shader improvement, and a couple of the lighting ones.

This is actually the third time shader mods have been posted on the N3V forum, one way back when TANE was first released, initially some interest, then it fizzles out for some reason, probably as shaders are updated in each new build......

It's a pity as they can make huge visual improvements.
