Transfering content from simulator to another

Post by trainzfan123 »

I haven't been on British Trainz forum for a while so do excuse me if I'm going round in circles!

Anyway, my question is how can I transfer content from one train simulator to another?

This is because I have Train Driver (the WSR route) and I've tried to merge it with Trainz 06 with no success.

I would then get the assets from Train Driver and transfer them onto TS10.

I did do this successfully before but I've completely forgot how to do it!

So does anybody know how to do it?

And I would also like to know how to merge Train Driver onto Trainz 06 successfully please.

BTW, The assets from Train Driver are ONLY FOR ME AND WILL NOT BE RE-DISTRIBUTED!!!!!!

Quite easy to merge.

Insert the Train Driver WSR into the disc drive, after a few seconds it comes up with a window which asks you if you want to merge it into an installed copy of 2006. Simply select yes and after about five minutes it's done. You can then access all the content through the cmp.

You can copy stuff from the 2006 cmp to 2010 cm, make sure you copy all the dependencies for the items as well. There is no breach of copyright that I know off as it is a trainz system disk as long as you don't use it for selling on or modifying without permissions as it was originally a payware disc.

If you were to install as a stand alone system you would not be able to access the content as the built in cmp is not accessible on it's own.

I'm trying to but the disc content won't load. I tried going onto run but still only loads up language and thereon, nothing else.

I've tried blowing/cleaning the disc drive etc.

Not really sure what to suggest here. Is the WSR disc damaged in anyway?
As it only part loads sounds like a fault/corrupted or a problem with the WSR disk, when you say "thereon" what exactly do you mean or how far does it get?
Can I assume you are trying to merge into 2006 and the version of 2006 you have is working properly and configured for Windows Vista, 07 and 08. Some of the older 2006 discs were set up for XP only so when run on higher operating systems had to be run under administrator rules; otherwise they wouldn't edit or save properly.

Try copying the disk to a folder on the hard drive and then run the setup as administrator from there, often works if a cd or dvd doesn't.

Just remembered that some newer optical drives don't read older disks very well.

Hi Clam,
Thanks for the heads up on that one, didn't know that. You learn something new everyday.
