Camscotts locos in TANE
Hi everyone - Happy New Year to all
I'm using numerous locos by Camscott in TANE and none of them are producing smoke when driving.
Does anyone else have this problem? If so, is there a fix?
They look quite strange without smoke. (must have been refitted with a diesel engine)

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
Hi Peter, Happy New Year.
I'm fairly sure there's a thread on the main forum somewhere covering a lack of smoke from steam engines generallly in T:ANE. If memory serves me right, though it's well dodgy these days, it was some time ago and may have been around the time T:ANE was released. There was also an issue of the smoke "moving" further and further forward of the chimney the faster the loco went - though that may have been in one of the testers forums. I thought the issues had all been resolved but don't quote me on it.
I'm sorry to be so vague, Peter, but it might be another option to go in search of.
Dave

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
Thanks for the response Dave.
I think most of the issues have been fixed in TANE as all the other steam locos I use are ok. I'm using locos by Lielestosbrat, skipper1945, trainboi1, lnerlover5 and lms_man plus a few others and all are working fine. It's just camscotts I'm having problems with. What I was wondering was if the smoke tag in the config file is in the wrong place for TANE would this cause the problem. If so, where does it need to be? What I know about config files could be written on the back of a matchbox in large font.

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
Bear with me just a thought but try turning PhysX Simulation off?
Smoke is bugged anyway if you have things over the track such as trees and such with PhysX on unless you modify the config of everything over hanging the track to include Or just turn PhysX off - Pain in the neck for narrowgauge routes with overhanging trees!

Turned PhysX off and no change, still no smoke.
But thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe they're fitted with an ECO-friendly feature

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
Are they using Twinkles? although not seen any problems with anything using them here, or it's not something like an upper case / lower case in the config, TANE seems to be getting very particular over correct case.

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
I've checked the config files against loco's that do produce smoke but I can't see anything odd. It's strange that it's just Camscotts locos. I have quite a few of his, D11, J11, B1, B12, Q6, O4, and none of them produce smoke. I must be missing something obvious but I can't see what.

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
Check the attachment points in the mesh are same name as in the config? Thinking smoke1 smokel smoke0 smokeO, that sort of thing has actually worked in the past, it doesn't in TANE though.

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
I have copied and pasted part of the config below. smoke0 works as that is the smoke emitted from the chimney when it is stationery but smoke1 doesn't work.
And I can't see why.
smoke0
{
attachment "a.smoke0"
mode "speed"
enabled 1
file "sidle.tfx"
color 0,0,0,0
}
smoke1
{
attachment "a.smoke0"
mode "anim2"
start 0,0.5
period 0.5,0.5
loop 0.75
loopdelay 1
scale 2
shift 0
rate 0,5
velocity 20,20
lifetime 6,6
minsize 0.4,0.4
maxsize 10,10
mass 10,10
mass-scale 0.1,0.1
accel 10.25,0
color 255,255,255,255,255,255,255,255
endcolor 255,0,0,0,255,255,255,0
conesize 0.1,0.1,1
inherit-velocity 1
enable-steam-physics 1
drag 5,5
spring 5.25,5.25
dampening 0.1,0.1
physics-delay 1,0
maxrate 30
texture <kuid:311512:6002>
}
And I can't see why.

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
It's using twinkles for the stationary smoke so that bit works ok.
Does that texture file actually exist? <kuid:311512:6002>
Comparing the smoke container to one of Georges (skipper1945) the only difference is that texture at the bottom, try removing it as the rest of the smoke container is identical to Georges LMS 2P

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
Success
<kuid:311512:6002> does exist on my system. Says it is Builtin-Payware by Auran. Gary's (lms_man) loco's use a texture kuid so I tried swapping to his but it still didn't work. Didn't think about removing it completely. Looks like I have a lot of work on my hands because I have quite a few of Camscotts loco's.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Camscotts locos in TANE
I recommend Search & Replace Master. Open them all for edit and use remove script and do a bulk replace. Takes seconds I added a tag to all my TANE trees around 200 of them that way, took about 4 seconds then just commit them. I'd test on a clone first just to make sure you have it set up right and it is doing what you require!
