Disable rail sounds in T:ANE

Post by Mightyena »

Hi, its me again, with another question regarding T:ANE.

I have noticed that in T:ANE, the dreaded "clickety-clack" sound is still around, and with no Trainzoptions file, there doesn't seem to be any way of removing it. I've seen a number of trainzoptions settings make it into the game as actual options in the setings window, like the 'free internal camera' and holding shift to accelerate time, but I haven't been able to find one for the rail sounds.

So my question is, can they be disabled at all? If not, I may have to go back to TS12 after about a month of trying to convince T:ANE to work properly, as any sense of realism is killed by the stupid track sounds.

Once again, thanks for any help

Can't say I even notice it. Just turn the volume down if it annoys you or locate the Track sound asset and replace all the wheel clang wav files with silent ones should work.
Sounds <kuid:570470:100003>

The good thing about TANE is that everything seems to be an asset you can mess with .... at your own peril, I've got rid of that annoying ichat rubbish by disabling the asset.

@clam1952. How did you disable ichat exactly? I would like to rid the sim of that also.

Good tips. Thanks :-)

That points clanging sound is so unrealistic - so I'll be turning that straight off tonight - along with iChat.

There are two nice jointed track sounds in the folder yet they used the poorer sounding single joint sounds for the clickety clack !!
Opening these files up for editing is certainly a step in the right direction as the sound side of the sim has always lagged behind .

I've just tried it and while there is now access to the built-in sounds, you can't commit any changes you make ("Not authorised to submit edits to this asset"). You have to manually import a version with an increased KUID, and even then half the sounds just didn't play
