Hi,
I am trying to merge four routes together, one at a time. All are quite large, about 20x20 each, give or take. However, each time I try to merge two together the program crashes and I lose one of the routes I was trying to merge. Tips?

Re: Merging large routes
Try breaking the route down further, more laborious I know but it breaks down their size.

I know this may sound stupid, but how do I do that?

Re: Merging large routes
Merging big routes together requires a lot of CPU memory (at least 4 gigabytes of ram required in order to run the windows background programs).
There was known bugs in earlier versions so make sure that you have Train Simulator 12 service pack installed to version 3.7 (build 61388).

Re: Merging large routes
I can't throw light on why Trainz would crash when you are merging routes. Have you tried creating two small (one baseboard) routes and merging them? If it crashes on that test then there is something seriously wrong with your installation.
Other things to consider are ensuring the names of route layers are not the same. Also that there is no overlapping of baseboards. Best of luck.

Re: Merging large routes
Hi,
I have merged routes in the past, and that turned out fine, except for the usual headaches. And when I merged them, I made sure all the layers were the same. As you can see, some advice given is to break down the route further. How do I do that?

Re: Merging large routes
You'll have to delete baseboards until the route is small enough, then use save-as to get lots of different sections of your route as their own routes. Then you shoul be a ble to merge them.
