Watley EV
Hi everyone, I've been reworking Meyshollop's excellent Watley Junction route, into what I call Watley EV
Basically, it's an imagining of what happens as small rural lines are upgraded. In my mind, this is what happened to the line:
The Watley Line is a small line that runs from Lightwood to Watley, with a small branch line to Poppy Lane. The line was never a major route, and since the early 90s has seen a steady decline in maintenance, with the line only seeing an hourly service at times, and operated by a contingent of Class 150 units begiining to show their age, and badly in need of refurbishment.
In 2008, it was decided that the line would be closed provisionally for a year, and if no solution could be found, the trackwork would be removed and the land sold off. In late 2009, SIGMA Transport, a newly formed company submitted a proposal to completely regenerate the line, which was accepted, and work started on the mainline in 2010, with the Poppy Lane branch reopening almost immediately.
Electrification and station upgrades were completed towards the end of 2015, with brand new Class 478 EMUs being delivered and undergoing testing, and the new EMU depot at Hurtmore opening with the mainline in mid 2016.
The aged class 150s have been withdrawn and transferred elsewhere, with 3 units remaining after undergoing a complete interior and exterior refurbishment for running the Poppy Lane branch, until that too is electrified and through services begin from Lightwood at the end of the year.
More details and screenshots to follow soon!

Compliments! Really a good idea !
I 'm doing a similar thing with the excellent Italian route " Tramway 1950 " . However I am only at the beginning of this , and I have yet to ask for some clarification to the author.
Sorry for the not good English

Re: Watley EV
Oooh, you've really whet my appetite just with that description. One question, though: have/will you remove the Settle & Carlisle and non-DLS assets? Unfortunately, a bunch of the non-DLS assets aren't available (the link in the original forum topic's dead and even the KUID Searcher can't find them), although they don't seem to leave any gaping holes.

Re: Watley EV
Thank you!
Considering I don't have the Settle & Carlisle DLC, the route should be free of it. As for non-DLS assets, I'll do my best, but a few things may slip through the net (either accidentally or because there's no suitable DLS content to replace it).
Anyway, a few more update shots - First off, the route map:
Bifton has been renamed to 'Bifton Beach', and is now one of the main stations on the route.
Stourford has lost platform 4 (the track has been reduced from quad to double-track everywhere except between Grantley and Lightwood):
Cranton, with the centre tracks removed (still need to add some foliage here):
Deepfields has been completely rebuilt:

Nice job, looks very good, but you might want to check the floating cars in the station car park at Stourford.

Re: Watley EV
Yes, I'll go back and fix those at some point. That's a T:ANE issue though, as theyre fine in TS12. I just ported it over quickly to check it ran OK, and didn't just give me a foggy blue screen like a lot of pre-T:ANE routes do.

Re: Watley EV
The preview day has arrived, where the Watley Line has been opened to a select few. 3 of the 9 Class 478/5 units, 478529, 531, and 532, are ferrying people back and forth along the line.

Re: Watley EV
Hi all, some more from Watley EV:
With the main portion of the Watley Line now up and running, work has shifted to the Poppy Lane branch. Construction of the second track has begun, and Watley station is in the process of gaining a fifth platform.
Lightwood station in its refurbished glory:
Deepfields:
Watley. The Poppy Lane platforms are currently physically isolated from the main route while the trackwork is upgraded. The line is currently being operated as a shuttle service between Poppy Lane and Watley, until the upgrade and electrification is complete, when through services from Lightwood can begin:
Watley platforms 4 and 5, looking in from the Poppy Lane Line. The double tracking is already complete as far as the Watley bridge, which was rebuilt to accommodate the wider trackbed:
The broken connection to the Poppy Lane Line:

Re: Watley EV
Just a few more, I was experimenting with the T:ANE environment dials, trying to give the route a less 'tropical' appearance:
Hurtmore:
Deepfields:
The new workhorses of the line - 2 of the 9 class 478/5 EMUs:
478 525 arrives at Deepfields:
(There are still some odd issues under T:ANE, such as the class 477/478/487 mesh having bright green windows, and the tail lights not showing up at all, but otherwise the route and stock seems to work pretty well in T:ANE)

Hey everyone, just some more shots of the Poppy Lane branch. Double tracking has been completed, and electrification is underway:
