Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
I think the track's Andi06s Protrack. I will admit I prefer Nexusdjs NEX LP track as it's easier to find ballast textures that go with it.

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
In the days before procedural track, I was always a big fan of james73's GT track range. He had a wide range of track types and condition and also transition pieces which allowed them to merge rather than change suddenly. There was also a matched texture for using with them.
My current go to track is by lielestosbrat, the LRW series of assets. Again, they have a matched texture for using with them.
Alas, I digress.

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
Yes, Karl, it is Andi06's Protrack. I watched N3V's YouTube video about making ballast textures to match it, and other track. I was totally lost after about 3 minutes so, needless to say, I never achieved the ambition. Make do and mend is currently the order of the day.

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
Relatively easy in PSP, latest version doesn't destroy the alpha channel, open a ballast ground texture for editing and use the colour change tool. Welcome to mess with any of mine.

I'd love to Malc, but I never understood a word of what you wrote
Seriously though, what's PSP? Is it some kind of software?
(and just the sound of alpha channels scares the daylights out of me )
Cheers

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
I've got the Photoshop normalmap plugin installed In Paintshop Pro, yes it does work!
However Pev's images2TGA is much quicker as it also is for embedding alphas.
The previous version of PSP destroyed the alphas when saving and produced a very strange image, which meant removing the alpha, editing the image, then embedding the alpha back again a bit tedious if trying to get a perfect match for a ground texture say with an embankment spline so you can blend them in.
Paintshop Pro is a very much cheaper nearly as good as Photoshop image program.

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
I think I'd need a couple of weeks, at least, at a decent night school to learn how to use all those things . Although I've downoaded and tried several times to use PEVs tools I haven't got a clue how to use them really. I don't learn very well from books (or Wiki pages) but take me to one side, show me how to do something a few times and I've got it for life. It's a shame really because there is so much I'd love to learn. Trouble is, the old brain just doesn't want to take it in these days though

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
A few more pictures to keep things ticking over. I've been playing about with a bit of semaphore signalling in the Aylesbury to Amersham area to perhaps add a bit of variety. Unfortunately, some of the signals are mix and match but that's down to what's available I'm afraid (mind you the whole route is a bit of a mixture era-wise now.)

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
Excellent screenshots Dave.
Incidentally Kenton is where CLL has a fictional connection to the WCML so cheers for the inclusion that'll be very handy when I get round to merging.

Just a few more pictures to keep things ticking over. Half decent weather has slowed progress - and a couple of poor health days too - but things are still moving along. It just never seems to end though. As fast as I finish a bit I look round and find a ton more to do Good job I enjoy it

(above) This is a sight not many fare paying passengers have ever seen. Traffic on the West Coast while a DMU crosses on the GC above

Re: Aylesbury to London Marylebone
As I haven't posted anything for about 6 weeks I thought I'd better pull my finger out and give a quick update. Minor health difficulties and the real world have intruded on any major progress with the route but there has been some slow, steady movement in the right direction. With Autumn upon us now and the no doubt deteriorating weather I'm sure there'll be ample opportunity for me to catch up.
Many thanks for the continued interest.
(above) Finchley Road has had something of a rebuild with some new tunnel assets that I'm sure the authors will announce shortly.
(above) Those new tunnel assets are clearly visible in the next 3 pictures too. This one is the St John's Wood area on the LT as it passes the Marylebone C S.
(above) Baker Street Underground station looking back towards St. John's Wood.
(above) Still at Baker Street Underground station, this is the eastern end.
(above) Meanwhile, back on the real railway, this is the area around the Regents Canal.
(above) This one is an overall view of the area in the previous picture. The London Underground is on the left and looking at the top of the picture you will see the site for Marylebone Station (still very much under construction.)
(above) The fuelling point at Marylebone Carriage Sidings, roughly as was in the 1970's and early 80's.
(above) Marylebone Carriage Sidings (or DMU Storage Sidings, it's had a few names over the years.)
(above) Last but not least, Marylebone Carriage Sidings (or DMU Storage Sidings) as seen from the main line.
There's still plenty to be done but it's getting there now. I've also been having a play about with the turntable area at Marylebone (which was obscured by foliage in real life and many never knew it was even there) to see if having a turntable installed might work with this route without loooking too out of place amongst its better known diesel history. With more than a little "artistic licence" I actually think it might work. I'll let you know what I decide to do once I'm satisfied in my own mind.
Cheers
Dave
