Re: west coast mainline
Nice to see someone using Ben Dorsey's OHLE guide. He very kindly created that after I'd spoken to him about something else around 7 or 8 years ago.
That's a complex route your doing but it's looking very good already. The trackwork at Queen's Park is very recognisable.
Cheers,
Innis

Re: west coast mainline
I didn't no there was A guide also if I knew then this post probably wouldn't exist.
Is this the right way for ohle to end were it ends on A through track and not A dead end ?

Re: west coast mainline
Awesome work Kane
I take it that latest image is of Willesden suburban Junction at the rear of the TMD ?
If so the lines up to Kensal Green Junction and also the high level route (across the WCML) use the Mk3 style of catenary .
I believe the original Mk3 mast's through the high level which replaced the 3rd rail where also changed at a later date - Perhaps due to signal sighting issues ?
Mk3 catenary at Kensal Green junction with line up from Willesden Suburban junction in the foreground :

Willesden High level station :
Original single masts : https://s0.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/03 ... 5104cc.jpg
Later replacement half gantries :https://www.flickr.com/photos/stationge ... 25/sizes/l
Going back to your screenshot those termination masts are also the wrong way round :
https://www.flickr.com/photos/66289212@ ... 0/sizes/h/
(Mast is behind loco - I'll see if I can find a better image)
EDIT : another at Crewe : https://www.flickr.com/photos/peak45147 ... 8/sizes/l/
The angled sections should face the incoming catenary wire .
I'll fully accept the blame for that as I never gave you folks any instructions on how to install these catenary systems

Re: west coast mainline
Thanks Dave although about two minutes before I read your reply I had just finished placing the wires on the high level and upto the junction they might have to remain untill I do A version two.
My main goal is to at least finish Euston to willesden junction and release as A beta to help me spot errors and do some tweaks then north to Watford.

Re: west coast mainline
Sounds like that's a train load of mice on a day out to the seaside Dave
I have to admit too, Dave, that in 30 odd years on the railway (and a good 20 under the wires) I never knew that those termination masts faced that way . It makes sense though because that's the direction that the wire is being pulled in. Mind you, I can't say I was ever the most attentive in that respect (as the Birmingham New Street fitters will attest to when I tried to take an electric loco into Curzon Street shed one early morning. One loud bang and a blinding flash later it slowly dawned on me that the wires in fact actually stopped at the entrance to the place Please explain... )
I'm just glad that I haven't started doing any knitting on my Derby - Manchester route.
Cheers
Dave

Re: west coast mainline
Hi everyone progress is going well but this area is bothering me.
Does anyone have any insight into the circled area I have found on oldmaps uk A rough track layout and A label as Chemical distribution depot but building and scenery wise I am A bit stuck any input would be great.
Cheers

Also is this some sort of liquids load/unload facility next to the container sidings

Top image : Willesden distillers sidings - always used to have a few Distillers CO2 TTA tanks stabled on them
(CO2 TTA tank from Tom Young that I released before Christmas)
Was known as Messers when it closed , location is now a bus garage .
Planning application 2003 : https://pam.ealing.gov.uk/online-applic ... W80JMTA596
If you go into Google Earth and crank the timeline back to 1999 you can see the Distillers depot with the CO2 TTA tanks stabled in the siding closest to the running lines :
Use these coordinates : 51°32'00.44" N 0°14'53.75" W
87101 heading north at Ledburn Jnc with CO2 tanks from Willesden (Leighton logs on Flickr pic) : https://www.flickr.com/photos/79134428@ ... 8/sizes/l/
2nd image : Cement terminal , a modern add-on to the intermodal terminal .
Location was a Freightliner Terminal 1970s-early 90's then it was rebuilt to be a Euroterminal for the opening of the channel tunnel but the projected traffic flows never materialised .

Wow, and I thought I'd had it bad with my AV software running amok and scrambling everything. Hope it all gets sorted ASAP Kane. Nice to see your progress in Trainz Mate but I hope your health problems progress towards a cure and you're back here telling us you're on the right path really soon.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Kane.
Cheers

I echo what Dave said. I wish you a full and speedy recovery and I hope that the current Coronavirus situation doesn't hinder your treatment too much.
Keep us all updated throughout your recovery please, if you don't mind that is
