I think a trip to my archived emails may be in order...bird_d00 wrote:I don't think so, I kept the original email from turbosquid for mine. Tried searching the registry for my code, but it isn't in there (or at least not in the clear).

So long as you haven't cleaned the registry the key will still be there and not needed for a reinstall
See
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\gmax\UserProfile]
"Version"="v1.00"
"UserID"=" xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxx being a string of numbers and letters, if that's there you should be good to go.

Re: Trainz Asset Creation Studio
The trouble is that the "xxxxxxxx" string is encoded. You can't just type that into the registration box in gmax (well you can, but it won't work). That's what I meant when I said there is nothing "in the clear" - there will be relationship between the registration code and whatever "xxxxxxxx" is, but it won't be simple.
Or are you implying that gmax won't replace that string on a re-install. I know I've had to re-type that registration code, but then again that may have been due to a trashed registry.

Re: Trainz Asset Creation Studio
I have not had to re-enter the registration when re-installing, only if on a different PC.
