Permission not needed , According to the license rules that you agree to when uploading content to the Sketchup Warehouse :

That APT is crying out to be converted to Trainz , Script it up with the pendo script so that it tilts ..... ;)

12 + 2 power car 10,000 HP set or a power car plus test coaches and the prototype HST powercars on either end ....
Keyboard clean up in aisle 3 ;)

Wasn't aware of this. Then again I have only used sketchup to create a model of my GCSE DT project.

I've got the APT into Gmax and it weighs in at a whopping 257,849 polys for the 4 car set including bogies .
I'll rip the bogies and pantograph off and see if it's workable

Nexus, would you be able to help me with the 380 if that's not a problem?

I'm not an expert on poly counts but that figure seems utterly eye-watering. I presume it's the way sketchup works that causes this.

It's to do with all the curved shapes used in the bogie's and pantograph / insulators .
When we build in Gmax / Blender / 3DS the idea is to use the least amount of surfaces to get a shape looking round or curved .
Sketchup users draw the shapes with lots of surfaces as they look smoother to the eye , plus they dont have to worry about crippling any Sim .

Happy to report that with bogie's and Pantograph / insulators removed the 4 car set weighs in at a respectable and very usable 49240 poly's or 12,500 each coach which is roughly the same as the Javelin :D

@Danny : What help do you need with the 380 ?

Perhaps the tilt could get stuck at one point

I note that there is also a Voyager - one for a rainy day?

For those who either are ofay with blender or wish to dabble in it can do a direct conversion via .dae to . blend file easily provided the model it to scale and its a simple position and attachment addition to the mesh, you don't even have to texture.
If anyone's interested il post the instructions here.
plus it helps to delete any internal surfaces in the model before exporting to reduce polys :)
nice work all
thanks
Patrick

Ah, right- that is the mesh Redmanb11 circulated as it has the same front that needs reshaped. Is masterchief redmanb11, I'll need to know that when giving credits in the config? I was under the impression Redmanb11 built this as he gave permission to others to alter the mesh- maybe he could confirm?

With shorter and wider windows the 303 looks pretty good but I'm dreading reshaping the roof as there are so many polys involved. Might have to build it from scratch. Other than that I'll need to completely remap it onto a single graphic, a job for a rainy day, so the 303 won't be ready for a while.

An APT Dave...it's well worth having a high poly version of that one, there were only ever 6 half sets built anyway. The alternative N3V are looking to allow is LOD on higher poly assets, not sure if LOD meshes could be easily created from Sketchup meshes though.
