Yes I know progress has been slow but here's my progress report:
Image
I've been mucking about with the textures as I found them to be rather oversaturated, if you compare the image above the previous screenshot, you'll hopefully see an improvement.

Tempest has also given me permission to reskin his bogies so that they match the underframe, and to eventually release onto the DLS, so that saves time in bogie fabrication.
The LODs still need tweaking, as TANE is still moaning about the Polygon counts, on top of that it wants LODs for the animated doors (screenshot below) which will be a right pain in the backside.

As screenshotted, the VEP will feature animated doors, I'd never animated hinged doors before so this was a new experience.

Next items on the agenda are:
- Get LODs sorted
- Get Script working (I may wait until the MBSO and TSO are sorted before making a start on this)
- Make a start on the MBSO

Looking great! Can't wait for this.

Would love plenty of passenger viewpoints too!

I like the way you've got standing passengers in there, I've never seen that before. Probably essential for these units!

I've read plenty of modern railways from the 70s and 80s, about people complaining about this very issue. So I thought it was a vital detail.

Looking great!
Will it use the old Class 421 cab or will it have a new one?

Going to use the old 421 cab for the time being although it is looking a bit rough nowadays, so the possibility of a new cab sometime in the future is on the cards.

Nice work, will it include all of the liveries the train wore through it's life?

Eg: BR Blue, BR Blue Grey, NSE, Connex, Southern and South West Trains.

By the way i don't have a problem waiting for this, Tempest70's 421 is very useful and has been since i got it. (It's a shame the website got taken down but i'm lucky that i got it when i did.)

That's the plan, although the NSE livery requires a fair few variants in it's own right, Blue & Grey with NSE Markings, NSE Unrefurbised, and NSE refubished.

2012 hopefully.

The MBSO luggage and guards compartments have been equipped out. The guards compartment is now complete with desk, chair and cabinet. The luggage area looks a bit bare as I plan on sticking some attachment points, for some brutes and luggage.
I've noticed this is an area thats commonly neglected within trainz and railway modelling in general.

As can be seen I'm currently working on an unrefurbished VEP with the large compartment, however I will also be creating the refurbished version with additional passenger compartment.

Going to be moving onto texturing and doing the underframe next, however I have a general question, was the partition between the luggage compartment and gangway made out of wood or corrugated metal? as I'm sure I've seen both. If anyone has any photos I could use for reference that would be much appreciated.

That is a superb idea :-D Can you make it tilt too? ;)

Great work. Can't help you with photos or answer your question though unfortunately :-(
