My veritable farm of computers has been growing nicely, with a few new parts allowing for a bit of hardware reshuffling, although I'm currently saving up for another one to replace the old core 2 rig...

The current machines are:

"Old Faithful" - My main system for use at home. Been going for just under 5 years with no major issues:
CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 (Sandy Bridge) @ 3.3-3.5GHz (Socket 1155)
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Fury (may bump it up to 16GB if I can find a decent deal on another set)
Mobo: ASUS P8H67-V (H67 chipset) Socket 1155 Motherboard
GPU: MSI GTX 680 Twin Frozr III
PSU: Corsair HX650
Case:NZXT Source 210
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Monitor: 22" 1920x1080 HP LE2202x

"New Kid" - Started off as a basic PC for my room, but has been gradually upgraded with cast-offs from Old Faithful to the point where it's actually surprisingly competent:
CPU: Intel Pentium G645 (Sandy Bridge) @ 2.9GHz (Socket 1155)
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz generic Samsung
Mobo: MSI B75MA-P45 (B75 chipset) Socket 1155 Motherboard
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7950
PSU: Corsair VX550
Case: Bitfenix Neos
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Monitor: 19" 1600x900 Packard Bell Viseo

"El Cheapo/Frankenstein" - My cheap-as-possible build for university. Have recently replaced the original Xeon X3220 with a modded Socket 771 E5450 chip, hence the name "Frankenstein":
CPU: Intel Xeon E5450 (Harpertown) @ 3.6GHz (Overclocked from 3GHz, going to try for 4GHz at some point) (Socket 771, but modded to fit in a 775 board)
RAM: 8GB (4x2GB) DDR2 800MHz generic Elpida
Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R (P45 chipset) Socket 775 Motherboard
GPU: Gainward GTX 570 Phantom
PSU: Corsair TX650
Case: Bitfenix Comrade
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (shudder)
Monitor: 22" 1920x1080 HP LE2202x (bought a second one of these after using one at home, they're great monitors for the price!)

"Future Build" - Currently saving up for this to hopefully replace Frankenstein as my uni PC:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K (Devil's Canyon) (Socket 1150)
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Fury
Mobo: Asus Z97-AR (Z97 chipset) Socket 1150 Motherboard
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 (unknown brand)
PSU: Seasonic 550W
Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Monitor: 22" 1920x1080 HP LE2202x (reusing the one from previous build)

Just recently did a big upgrade, my first since early 2015. I kept my GPU, soundcard, and SSD drives, most of which were fairly recent upgrades.

CPU:
Intel Core i5-13600K

Mobo:
ASRock Z790 PG Riptide

RAM:
Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 5600

GPU:
Radeon RX 5700

Sound Card:
Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5

Boot drive:
1TB WD BLACK SN770 M.2 2280 Gen4 NVMe

Data drives:
2 x 2TB Crucial BX500 SATA SSD in RAID1
1TB Crucial MX500 SATA SSD (this used to be my boot drive but will now serve as a host drive for VMs)
4TB Seagate HDD (internal) for backups
8TB Seagate HDD (external) for backups

PSU:
Corsair RM850 850 Watt 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular

Case:
Fractal Design Define 7 XL Windowed Full-Tower

Cooling:
Scythe FUMA 2 Rev B CPU cooler
7 x 140mm case fans (3 x PWM + 4 x non-PWM)

Previously, I had a dual boot of Win10 (for day to day use) and Win7 (for games) partitioned on the boot drive.

Now I've got Win11 (for day to day use) and Win10 (for games).

Anyone any pointers for making Win10 run as best it can when you're playing games on it? I've had a look online and seen a few things that I've tried. Win7 was pretty easy to strip down.
