Re: Post your specs
Recently upgraded my rig and while still ironing out a few teething problems, it comprises the following.
Mobo - Gigabyte GA 970A UD3
CPU - AMD FX 4100 3.8GHz
CPU cooling - Antec H20 water cooler
RAM - Corsair 8Gb DDR2 1600MHz
PSU - Corsair CX750
GPU - Nvidia GTS 450 o/c edition
OS - Win 7
All housed in a Zalman Z12 plus, with 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans.
I get very good frame rates in Trainz with this set up, even in scenery heavy areas. I plan to upgrade the GPU in the next few months as this is the last bottleneck in the system.

Re: Post your specs
That's a strange one. I'm using HDDs that are at least 7 years old, with IDE to SATA converters on the back and can't say I've noticed any issue.

Re: Post your specs
I haven't really noticed any problems as such just I want to get my windows experience rating up from 5.9 to what ever a blue or black will give me :p

Re: Post your specs
5.9 is a good rating. With my specs above, I'm only getting 5.2 (determined by my disk transfer rate).

Re: Post your specs
Go for an SSD if you really want to see a difference. The difference between traditional disks will be minimal.

Re: Post your specs
Ok thanks for that GDS can't really justify a SSD just yet too expensive for what size they are

Re: Post your specs
Have a look at the Seagate Solid State Hybrid Drives, part SSD, part traditional and very reasonably priced. A 1TB was around £85 last time I looked and supposedly 3 to 4 times faster than an ordinary HD.

Re: Post your specs
Thanks for that Clam will look into it. It won't be for a while yet though so SSD's MIGHT have come down in price by the time I can afford them.

Re: Post your specs
Hauling this thread back from the darkest depths, but it's time to detail my PC, now I have one! For those interested by size, it is a micro-ATX build.
CPU: Intel i5-6500 Skylake @ 3.2GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170MX-Gaming-5
GPU: Asus Strix GTX 960 2GB OC
PSU: Corsair CS550M
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8GB @ 2666MHz
SSD: Samsung SM951 NMVe M.2 128GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm
Case: Aerocool DS Cube (orange)
Cooler: Stock Intel fan
Other items:
LG Bluray Read/Writer
Akasa 3.5" Multi Card reader
Gigabyte wireless a/b/g/n/ac & Bluetooth PCIe card
As mentioned I currently will be using the stock Intel cooler, which whilst sufficient, isn't particularly quiet so I plan to upgrade to a better one in future; perhaps the Be Quiet Pure Rock.

Re: Post your specs
Pretty embarrassed to post my specs really, as they're terrible. Although where are people getting the money to build these great PCs, I can't afford it until I work full time. I wonder if some people are telling a few porkies.
Ashamed to say I bought my PC from PC world back in 2013, when I needed a ready to run PC quickly.
Desktop HP Pavilion
CPU AMD A8 5500 APU Dual core
RAM DDR3 4GB (dunno the make)
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT620
1TB HDD drive
Although I'm hoping to soup it up to have an 600w PSU, I've also got a GeForce GTX 680 which I got for free off a friend, (yes I know it works before anyone asks) and upgrade the RAM to minimum 8gb, can get that now for £30 so can't complain. This should suit me until I get round to building a new PC.
