New graphics card recommendation

Post by Briggsy »

Hi guys,

My graphics card fried a couple of months ago - so a new one is on the shopping list.

Recommendations please?

Budget not really an issue. I just want something that will run Trainz 12 and TANE like a dream.

My PC is a beast - very powerful, so specs are not an issue either.

I'm not an expert, but I would say that anything from a 970/980/ti/1070/1080 would be more than up to the task on the nVidia side. As for AMD, I'm not too sure. Haven't really been keeping up with them since they switched to their r7/r9 branding...

Hope that helps a little

Plus the GTX1060 is supposed to better or as good as a 970, I'd study all the reviews carefully.

...or perhaps hold fire for a bit. There are rumours of some very impressive stuff just over the horizon. Maybe they've got something up heir sleeves for Christmas time. I don't know. However, most reviewers I've read after they tested the GTX1070 and 1080 were not that impressed considering the money being asked for the product. They seem to think there's something else around the corner later in the year; otherwise, they say, the leap forward, whilst big, would have been somewhat bigger. Who knows? I'm certainly no expert so I don't. :?
