Hornby 2017 Range

Post by Nexusdj »

Hornby's new 2017 range is up on their website :
http://www.hornby.com/uk-en/shop/hornby ... -2017.html

GWR Green (sludge livery) HST powercar pack (limited edition) marked up at an eye watering £319 !!!
That's a £100 price increase on previous HST powercar packs released in 2016 , I had to double check I hadn't stumbled into a new O gauge section

Glad I knocked all that on the head a few years back , Even the second hand OO gauge is ridiculously over priced now , Some of the Lima stuff on ebay is marked up 5 or 6 times its original cost !!
High visibility pixels must be worn when on or about the line !!

Extortionate is an understatement, see all the New stuff is DCC ready but not fitted, at those prices I would have expected it to be standard. Way way over the cost of stuff I used to buy with my pocket money back in the 60's.
Prices of anything to do with model railways are extortionate, even the white metal kits I had are 10 times the cost and forget about getting a chassis!
Unfortunately my Step father gave all my stuff including about 15 years worth of model railway magazines away to a jumble sale when I joined the Navy, was not impressed!
Cheers

Bloody hell! Some of the prices are eye watering. Glad I got shot of all that sort of stuff. Makes me laugh when people complain about paying a tenner or so for some DLC.

£7.99 just for a catalogue now. That was the price of a BR MkII coach the last time I looked at their stuff

It's no wonder kids don't get a 'Train Set' for Xmas anymore, it's cheaper to give them an Xbox or a smart phone.
When you consider that they can injection mould the bodies at thousands a day, even allowing for rejects they
must now work out at no more than 'pence' each. It's a total rip-off, companies with this sort of business model
are the ones we see going bust every month in this country (or sold off to India, China etc for a pittance).

Thankfully, my hobby of RC model boats has not gone that way.

Bargain. I'll take 3.

On a serious note, I stopped modelling years ago (train modelling - not Y fronts for the C&A catalogue....).

Hornby used to new crap quality compared to Lima - and far more expensive.

I remember the HST Mk3 coaches being unbelievably out of scale . How can a professional modelling company get something so obvious wrong? I take it they did actually resolve it?

So you still model the Y fronts then, does it pay well?
