Thanks for this Dave. Great video.
I can just picture the passengers bouncing up and down on the springiest seats ever and sweating their gonads off from the oven-like heating

Can't quite work out who the first driver is but from New Street to Walsall it was a chap called Steve Cave, now retired. Strange to see Tame Bridge hadn't even been thought of and no Trams outside Wolverhampton. Surprising how you become accustomed to all the alterations.

PS The heating was just as hot in the cabs Briggsy. I actually melted the soles of a pair of oil resistant soled boots by putting my feet on the foot warmer.

They don't make them like they used to.
Even first class seats are poor in comparison to the amazing seats on the 304 - and as for the heaters, every train I go on now seems to have the air conditioning set to -10

That brought back some memories, I used to live on Lea Rd in Wolverhampton, used to train it into Brum quite often in 1971/2

Small world, used to live in Jeffcock Road, just off Lea Road about 15 years later though.blackwatch13 wrote:That brought back some memories, I used to live on Lea Rd in Wolverhampton, used to train it into Brum quite often in 1971/2
