Electrostars are bad at maths...

Post by Mightyena »

Just an amusing moment from my train this afternoon. Seems 377444 has forgotten how numbers work...

Aah well you see, that's privatisation maths. You basically make up any numbers you like as you go along and then you hope that nobody has noticed. It works briliantly in the the profit and loss columns. ;)

Cheers

Amazingly enough it did actually have 8 coaches. Mind you it did divide en-route so probably more to do with the platform staff at Horsham not wanting to break out the chainsaws to send half a 377 to Bognor!

According to the PIS the train was formed like so:

377156:
Coach 1 of 4
Coach 2 of 4
Coach 3 of 4
Coach 4 of 4
377444:
Coach 5 of 4
Coach 6 of 4
Coach 7 of 4
Coach 8 of 4

Also 444 was on the front, so double fail I guess...
Those 377s seem to have endless trouble with the PIS. Coming up into London I had 377122 that had decided (at least on the internal displays) to communicate only in lines and rectangles

Unfortunately, James, traincrews have little to no control over what actually gets displayed on those things. Each route has a 3 figure code assigned to it and all the driver does, once he has opened the desk, is enter the code he has for the route he is working and... hey presto... out comes the destination onto the front of the train and inside the coaches all the stopping points are listed in order - or at least, that was the theory. It beat the arm numbing winding of destination blinds from one end to the other but we used to have hours of fun with the damn things when they went rogue
