Red objects/trains/splines in Surveyor

Post by PacerNut »

Hi all.

I purchased Trainz 2010 about a week ago, and got it installed yesterday. I've noticed that the ECML has a lot of missing assets on it. I've been onto the Content Manager, searched "ECML", clicked on the route and found the dependencies, and about 80% of them have the "Faulty" icon lit up, however I go to View Errors And Warnings and it says 0 Errors, 0 Warnings. I have noticed some of these objects are objects that I had on my Trainz Classics 1&2, so I assumed that may have been the problem, since I imported all of the contect from my Trainz Classics 1&2 local folder into the Trainz 2010:EE local folder, however there are objects that don't work, that I never had on TC 1&2. Have I done something wrong? Will it require a full re-install? (God I hope not, I have almost 3GB of assets!)

Regards, Jack

I also have just noticed that if I click the View Errors & Warnings for an asset that is marked as "Faulty", read that it has 0 errors and 0 warnings, and then click Close, sometimes the Faulty icon disappears...

Yeah, that happens from time to time. You just need to view errors on all the faulty content, and most of it should fix itself (unless there's actually something wrong with it).

3GB is nothing, my trainz folder was 59.6GB last time I backed it up!

So, Trainz will mark it as red in the surveyor and not show it up at all in the driver, even if it has no faults or errors, and I have to actually view the errors to see if it has any at all (which it doesn't) before it will show up in driver and actually work in surveyor?

59.6GB?! Bloody hell! :O

I think so. I've found that assets will sometimes randomly mark themselves as faulty and then a few days later fix themselves for no apparent reason :? Although if one of the guys that actually knows what they're on about wants to correct me if i'm wrong, since I'm not the best person to explain the ins and outs of Trainz...

Yeah I've seen that too actually. I also am currently struggling with the fact that half of my assets aren't even showing up in the Surveyor menu, never mind showing up but in a red font! Seems that Trainz changed rather a lot between 2007 and 2009 :|

Try a quick database repair (maybe more than one) and see what that does.

Too deal with any remaining items you can bulk select them (standard Windows bulk selection) then right click > select Edit > Open for Edit. Then right click > Edit > Revert and see if that does the trick !

From memory some TC3 (Settle & Carlisle) assets do show up faulty in TS2010 and they are genuine faults, the vast majority can be repaired but it's a big job - I took the easy way out and bought the TS2009 Add-On version of the S&C instead.
