More problems:
After downloading some content last week, both via CMP and installing cdp. files, trainz 2012 will no longer load. I click on it and a black screen appears with the mouse symbol circling around. I gave it a minute then pressed the windows key, and was confronted with a box with an error message saying "Cannot connect to database" - I close that and trainz closes also. It has done it every time now even though I have run an extended database repair.
Anyone know what could cause this?

You could make sure that trainz (on your desktop) is set to run as administrator. Its also worth going into your trainz 'program files' folder and setting all the .exe files to 'run as admin'. This can be done in 'right click' 'properties' 'compatability' then check the box near the bottom. Thats if you are talking windows 7.
It may sound silly, but have to rebooted the pc? sometimes does the trick.
If still no banana, then I'd recommend a re-install.

I decided to reinstall now anyway as it was a bit cluttered and I am going to take advantage of the simulatorcentral.com sale.

I have done a clean install, added the service packs and still I get the error message. What is going on??

Are you on the Internet with the Trainz PC?
Are you the administrator on the Trainz PC?
Something Ive just thought of, it could the the Firewall that isn't letting trainz connect, try temporarily disabling your firewall, then try it. If that works you'll have to put an exception into the firewall. Could also be a similar thing with your anti virus.
