A refugee from UK Trainz

Post by rb277170 »

Hi guys. Nice to see this site being well used. Currently a TRS2004 user but got myself a new PC and thinking of upgrading to TRS2010. Does this have the Settle and Carlisle route and stock on it or do I buy that extra? Anything to watch out for?

I was just about to buy on amazon when I noted that TRS2010 says its for Windows Vista or XP. I've got Windows 7 . Any issues with that?

Any guidance gratefully accepted.

Welcome to the forums Russell.

As for TS2010 working with Windows 7, it works great in my experience.

No TS2010 does not have the S&C. You can buy the Settle and Carlisle 2009 download from the Auran (N3V) web site and add it to TS2010 - this includes loads of good UK locos and stock and you can then also download extras from the dedicated S&C 2009 website. TS2010 does have the ECML York - KX from the Deltic era.

Be very careful when buying from a third party (e.g. Amazon) rather than direct from Auran. You may well save some money in the short term but end up having a load of hassle with things like missing serial numbers, already registered (secondhand) copies, non standard versions etc. - there are hundreds of posts on the main Auran forums about this sort of thing. Just be very careful that you are getting what you are paying for..

Note: there are a number of discounts/discount vouchers for TS2010 knocking around at the moment if purchased direct.

As for Windows 7, just to add to what Mark said, when installing TS2010 under Windows 7 make sure you install it as "Administrator". I can point you to some details about this if you need them.

One other thing - TS2010 needs a reasonable graphics card so just check you PC meets the spec (if in doubt post details).

Thanks guys appreciate your help ! The amazon TRS2010 is not second hand but new. I reckoning that means all the necessary codes will be there.
