Hello, I've been around lots before but not as much as I'd like to have been....
Hoping to change that - once again...

But - you've not organised this particular sub-forum very well, have you?

Surely a "Once you've joined say hello here" thread would've sufficed rather than
the apparent free-for-all you have going on here just now, no?

Hi,

I'm Dave, formerly known as das55007, but now dave55007 (so I don't confuse myself when I'm on the "BR Blue" forum!)

Thanks to Mark and others for starting this forum for us 'British' modellers.

Regards,

Dave

Hi all. the name's Neil. Although I've been using Trainz on and off for some years I still consider myself a newbie when it comes to understanding the intricacies of the programme so I will no doubt be seeking advice at some stage. Good luck to you Mark and thanks for setting this up.

Hello all,
I'm Ben, I've been Trainzing since about 2003; generally I'm into anything British, but I'm a sucker for narrow gauge! I've created a couple of routes and reskins etc, my authorised reskins of kevmt's Ffestiniog stock can be found at http://www.trainzone.co.nz/ffestiniog.htm, my other content can be found on the DLS with my User ID 96617.
Thanks to Marky for setting up this forum, I'm sure we can make this as popular and useful as the uktrainz forum was.

Hi All,
I'm Nick (as my username suggests) and have the Auran ID welshgit. I haven't had any releases yet (mainly due to hardware issues and only having TransDEM 1.3(Can't afford a newer one)). I'm in to British railways (a lot) and am trying to aquire a dem for the Wye Valley Railway. I know I didn't come across as that reliable on the old forum and I apologise for this.

Hi all,
Im Phil. I've been trainzing since 2004 (since my 10th Birthday  ) and I have a soft-spot for narrow-gauge stuff

Yet again, thanks Mark for setting this forum up.

Phil

Hi,
If you open up cmp and open an asset for edit, you can reskin a train. Right click on it and open it in explorer: there will be some folders (usually one with 'body' in the name) and look at all the files to find the right one, a bit of trial and error is involved. There will be a file with basically an 'unfolded' skin of the train
If you get a program such as ifanview you can open that with this and then save the image as a bmp. file (in a different folder preferably separate from trainz) then you can use paint to reskin it. Let me know when you have done this or need help

For starters the program you need is Irfanview image viewer not ifanview, small typo error there class172.

Here's a basic rundown on how to reskin something

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz/Bas ... _beginners

http://www.gaurc.us/files/info/ReskinningForDummies.pdf

http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/inde ... n_an_Asset

There are many more tutorials on the internet just google "Reskinning Trainz"
Work to live not live to work.
