Back in the Trainz Cab!
Hi there! I hope to get trainz 2010 or even 2012 some time soon and with that in mind, I've just installed my old trainz 2004 to a fairly new pc with windows 7 to get back into the feel of it all. There's just one issue (so far!) which I've explained on the 'trainz 2004 support' page if you think you could help me out with it? Anyway, my first love is british steam 1950-60s and my first windows 7 l-o-n-g term project will be (an attempt) to represent some area of the Waterloo to Windsor line. The only large terminus I have is the one available in the 2004 passenger edition, but I might create the entire terminus from custom platforms etc. I really need plenty of prototypical locos (steam and electric if poss) but so far am unable to download anything from auran. I'd like to know if anyone has ever really employed the city terminus to full potential ie. employing all the platform lines? I have but it was a few years ago and the old pc just couldn't cope with the mass of detail and locos required etc. Although, I did manage to run 7 trains on it and most of the operations worked fairly well for a while with much reduced detail. I hope to get trainz 2010 or later soon, but the 2004 will have to suffice for now. In order to create a 'busy' city based scenario, I restricted the modelled area to one edge of the 'baseboard' and placed the cameras aimed towards that edge only. By using only camera views and cab driver views in the actual driver scenario, I found it very rewarding and more realistic too! The whole thing ran alot smoother and far more detail could then be included - plus a far longer route was made possible. My apologies if most of you already knew all that. Have a GREAT Xmas!
