Do you mean repeats or a new series ?

If it's a new series then the problem is that some of the actors in those sitcom's aren't as young as they used to be, eg "The Young Ones", some have even passed away. As i always believe that it's never as good when they revive classic programmes with different actors from the originals.

But for me it would have to be Red Dwarf.

Modern stuff just isn't in the same league as the 'classic' stuff - I doubt we'll ever see comedies as good as 'Only Fools And Horses' and 'Fawlty Towers' ever again. Everything is just overly childish humour such as that in Men Behaving Badly, or 'shock comedy'.

I'd love to see run-runs of the old Tommy Cooper shows on TV again - but these days, youngsters just wouldn't get him. His style would be seen as "cheesey" these days. He's a legend though. He only had to walk on the stage to get a laugh.

Red Dwarf is coming back this October.
The Brittas Empire could be easily done.
Blackadder could be also easily done.
as could Spitting image.
Mrs Browns Boys is old style comedy of sorts.
And if modern comedians got together to do sketch shows that would be good.

Mrs Brown's Boys is the funniest comedy on tv at the moment with a new series due to be aired later this year i believe or maybe at the start of next year.

The best one in my book is when Mrs Brown (he) picks up the daughter's tazer gun that's on charge thinking it's the telephone and tazer's herself (himself) in the head.

I nearly wet myself laughing so hard

A brave statement indeed!

I loved the Young Ones however, I was highly disappointed when I rented the whole series last year as part of a wider-ranging mid-life crisis. It hasn't aged well as most of the humour was very much relevant to those dark Thatcher years (for the kids, Thatcher was an android sent to Earth to destroy many things prior to the main invasion) and unless you remember those, say for instance as 107 year old would, the humour is no longer relevant.

Very sad as I laughed so hard back in the day. On the upside, the bands are still just as good. Especially The Damned and Motorhead.

Small... Far away.

I used to love the Young Ones, also Bottom which both starred Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson. You may be right PFX as we were both a lot younger back then. A lot of the humour was very slapstick and basically aimed at the, how can i say it, younger viewers between the ages of 18 - 21. That kind of humour probably doesn't make us as adults of our age laugh so much now.

I liked a lot of the comedy shows starring either Rik and Ade or both back in the 1980s & 1990s which included the Dangerous Brothers, which was on Saturday live show, Comic Strip Presents & The New Statesman. I can always remember Rik's cameo role in the film An American Werewolf in London were he starred as a bloke in the pub "The Slaughtered Lamb" where he was playing a board game in a corner of the pub i think.
