12th Doctor is announced
Well, the next incarnation of The Doctor has just been announced. I must say I'm rather pleased with the selection. I won't say who it is in case I spoil the surprise for anyone
Please, call me Alex.

For those who don't know but want to know here is the name in Greek: transliterate it for the answer Πέτέρ Καπαλδι

Peter Capaldi? Oops...
I initially liked the modern version of the series but the stories have become quite repetitive and I haven't liked the last few doctors either. Clearly there are plenty of people who still do like it though.

Re: 12th Doctor is announced
David Tennant has to be my favourite Doctor. Matt Smith was alright but not as good as David. My mum grew up with John Pertwee and Tom Baker and she thinks that they were better than the modern episodes.

Re: 12th Doctor is announced
Of the modern crop of Doctors, Christopher Ecclestone was by far and away the best but it seems he is often overlooked despite being a far better actor than the others. It was during Tennant's spell that I stopped watching as I just don't like him as an actor (the rent-a-Jock accent always bugs me) and I thought the stories had gone downhill. Interestingly, I can see many similarities in the styles of Smith and Tennant.
For me, Tom Baker is always going to come out on top, despite the low budget sets and effects of the show at that time. I've watched many of the episodes more recently, my favourite probably being the Robots of Death. Baker had a certain charisma as the Doctor, which hasn't been matched but Ecclestone did come close.

Re: 12th Doctor is announced
Did anyone understand liverpool13's post? Please use punctuation!
But anyway, I lost interest in Doctor Who after the first few Matt Smith episodes. Steve Moffat killed the story lines with over complicated plots and too many throw backs to previous episodes.

Re: 12th Doctor is announced
i have to agree there. Some of the later episodes in Matt Smith's first series I found particularly confusing, but the new ones with Clara as sidekick I thought were quite good.danny109 wrote:Steve Moffat killed the story lines with over complicated plots

Re: 12th Doctor is announced
One of my favorite dr who (or padidilidamp, as my dad calls it) quotes - try to guess what episode its from:
Donna: the TARDIS is gone! Don't tell me they've stolen the TARDIS!
Doctor:
Donna: Go on then, have they stolen the TARDIS?
Doctor: You told me not to tell you
