Bachmann to release Underground s stock

Post by bsillett »

Bachmann in cooperation with the London Transport Museum are releasing a 00 gauge Underground S Stock train  :D . see here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgG3dgyPZ-Q

At £280  for a four car set and £439  for a seven car set, they are way out of the price range for me and many other modellers. They will only be available from the Museum,
At Acton Depot Open weekend – SUNDAY 27 September ONLY. Models available to purchase only – NO collection facilities available for pre–order.
At Covent Garden store (museum) from 11.00 on Friday 2 October for the duration of stock availability.
Online from Museum, dispatch date from the 29th September.

Would love one of these but they are way too expensive.

Model railway equipment is way too expensive these days , It makes my eyes water when I see some of the prices in Rail Express magazine : £40-50 for a 00 gauge carriage , £210 for a pair of Hornby HST powercars !!
So glad I use Trainz as my modelling fix these days ;)
High visibility pixels must be worn when on or about the line !!

I stopped buying stuff for my N gauge years ago. Like you nexus, Trainz has provided me with a modelling fix of sorts.

An 009 narrow gauge loco I bought in the 60's for just over a quid is now retailing for £80 a white metal kit I bought for 7s 6d for the kit and £1 10s for the chassis will now cost me £9.00 for the kit and £35 for the chassis, I'm not even going to mention the extortionate cost of OO gauge stuff, which used to be pocket money prices....................
Thankfully I found Trainz!
Cheers

I've long wanted more ready to run tube stock, this is almost worth rummaging into the long term savings for!

I've been going down the route of picking up bargains when I spot them or buying second hand, and have managed to build up a decent little collection of N gauge, with a plan to eventually build a little end to end layout for it all.

I can't afford to buy everything new and at full price - I'd probably be bankrupt by now if I did.

It's very expensive, but I think it's a good model and here in Italy we have to pay €475 (!) for the ETR401 Pendolino (4 cars) set in H0 scale... I don't know the change between euros and pounds, but I think the LU stock price is (relatively) a good price.
