Points flicking to and fro

Hi all,

I am trying to run a 2ft gauge route I have created myself, which is single track with passing places.

At one of these passing places, AI trains arrive into the loop fine, but as they try to move off the point at the end of the loop initially changes as it should do, but then as the train approaches the point starts flicking to and fro. This frequently results in the AI driver having to wait 2 minutes as the signal protecting that end of the loop flicks between red and green as the point changes. Once past the signal, AI drivers creep very gradually closer to the point because they try to accelerate when the point is facing towards them and then brake when facing away. When the train is very close to the junction, the point finally stays in the correct position and the AI can continue.

This effect happens when the train is approaching on either side of the loop, but when going in the opposite direction from the single track and into the loop, the point behaves completely normally. All other passing loops appear to be working normally. Driving other the point manually has no problems either.

I have tried using a variety of locos/rolling stock and I have changed the point levers. I have also re-laid the entire area but the effect still happens.

I was wondering if anyone has seen anything similar and has any ideas about how I can stop this from happening.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

seen this happen on the ffest -- whr route and on the CLL route I think it might be a signal board problem

Have you thought of using the 'Set Junction' rule in the list of commands to the AI driver? If you use it select the release after passing option.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, I have tried using that command but to no avail.

I have found that if the point is already set to the correct position by myself then the train is able to move off faster because the signal remains clear the whole time, however the yellow padlock above the point is flashing on and off so I know that the effect is still happening. For the time being that will do, however I would really like to be able to solve the issue.

Thanks,
Tim
