For anyone looking to emulate the Edinburgh Glasgo push/pull sets, of the 70s this is apparently the standard consist.
Class 27, Mk2 BSO, Mk2 TSO, Mk2 FK, Mk2 TSO, Mk2 TSO, Mk2 TSO, Class 27. The original plan was to use a SO rather than TSO.
I can't find the consists when services then switched to single loco hauled push/pulls but they eventually ended up consisting of the following.
Class 47, Mk3 TSO, Mk3 TSO, Mk3 TSO, (Mk3 TSO), Mk3 FO, Mk2 DBSO.

Re: Edinburgh Glasgow Push/Pull sets 70s & 80s
The 1977 Carriage Programme has the push-pull formation as BSO+FK+4TSO, all air-braked, dual heat, 100mph Mk2s coaches, with a class 27 at each-end.
The BSO was always supposed to be at the Glasgow end, 5 sets were required to work the half-hourly service, and each set averaged over 650 miles a day.
No wonder the class 27s caught fire a lot!
