Trainz won't start (TS12 SP1)

I tried to open Trainz today. The launcher opened as usual, but when I started the game, it crashed. This happened twice more, and now the launcher won't even appear any more.

Do you run it from Steam?

Also do you have a lot of content with missing dependencies or errors?
As I've known this to happen to me in the past.

I don't run it from Steam. It started working again after I played Minesweeper, so not exactly sure what happened.
