TS 12 asset required - help needed

Post by dave55007 »

Hi,

I'd like to ask a favour please - I need a couple of assets from the DLS, they are TS 12 assets, but I'm running TRS 2009 and cannot download the asset as I don't have the correct Serial code. I'm hoping they will be useable in TRS 2009 as they are fairly straight forward items (no disrespect to the creator intended here in any form), and I've been able to convert a few 2010 items for use in 2009 before and hope I can do the same with TS12. Anyway, that's my problem to solve.

The items are:

Author: Nexusdj

Kuid: 45317:104639 and 104641

Names: UK 25Kv Mk3 Kings X 2trk cat support
UK 25Kv Mk3 Kings X 2trk cat support (tside)

If you are able and willing to get these for me, please PM me for my email address. Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

Nexusdj is a longstanding member of these forums, Dave, as well as an accomplished asset creator, so he may be a little miffed that you haven't asked for his opinion on this matter, considering those assets are his creations. I'm not sure of the legitimacy of downloading items from the DLS and passing them to other members either, but I would hazard a guess that it is frowned upon at the very least.

Nexusdj (also called Dave) is very friendly and approachable so you may benefit more from seeking his assistance first.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. Acually, I didn't want to 'bother' Dave (Nexusdj) directly with what may have seemed like yet another "Please can I have" request, which I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate, but you are right, he has the right to state his own opinion. Apologies then for any seeming disrespect, which I had no intention of giving, as he and the many other asset creators are very much appreciated (my own efforts at content creation are long since shelved in the use-by bin!).

I suppose as far as legitimacy is concerned, Dave is the best one to furnish such items directly, as the asset creator, if he so wished.

In which case, I can only wait in hopeful anticipation of Dave's merciful consideration of an ill-worded request.

I've attached the 2 items , but note this is a one off as I don't usually backdate content .
Let me know once you've downloaded and I'll remove the file .

I'm also curious about your serial code statement in your original post ?

Dave - you are a gent. Many thanks for your understanding and generosity. I have downloaded them now.

Regarding the Serial number - I have Trainz versions from 2004 through to 2009, and have registered each serial number in turn. I stumbled across your Kings X catenary items almost by accident on my CMP while I was trying to source a better catenary for my Finsbury Park to Kings Cross map, and tried to download them, but could not. I realised that they were probably TS12 versions, and since I don't have TS12 (yet) I could not download them. But they were just what I needed!!!

I think I'll purchase TS12 and 'solve' the problem for the future, probably the best thing all round.

Once again, thanks for your help. I promise not to beg for anything again!!!

No problem :D
The minimum builds that we can upload are forced on us by N3V as a way to motivate users in to keep purchasing the latest versions . I was happy uploading the 2.9 builds until they stopped that last year . There's not much difference between builds 2.9 and 3.5 with the way the config files are constructed unless your using a feature that only works in 3.5 and above .

Not sure what's going to happen when they stop the uploading of 3.5 and 3.7 content in September , First off I can see a mass protest from the TS12 users especially if the on going faults with TANE haven't been sorted (who'd want to upgrade to a more faulty version !!) , Secondly the TANE build numbers introduce a whole heap of additional mandatory features such as LOD on train vehicles and other items , use of various texture types etc. .

Nice to see that Dave got the assets that he wanted from Dave, with the help of Dave.

As Dave says Dave, Dave is a long-standing friendly member on here, and it's very kind of Dave to backdate his content for you Dave.

Fair play Dave for helping Dave out (No, not you Dave, or you Dave, but the other Dave). It helped avoid any confusion from taking place.

Top man Dave!

Thank you 'Dave' Briggsy!!!

I appreciate the time you have taken to explain the build uploads Dave (Nexusdj) as it makes a lot of sense as to what is going on with the 'lack' of pre TS2012 assets. Saying that, a check on the DLS will reveal that someone (pw3r) has been able to upload a couple of TRS2004 assets - on Jan 9th this year! So, who really knows whats going on? It is a shame that the Content Creators who want to release assets that can benefit not just a few but those of us with pre-2012 games too have no way to upload onto the DLS, but I suppose N3V can do what they want with their DLS.

Once again, thanks Dave for your consideration. Here is a screenshot showing what I've done with said assets. You might recognise the building!

55013 awaits the Green light to take yet another InterCity service north from Kings Cross, sometime in 1981:

pwr3 is an N3V employee and the assets uploaded will be builtins from TS12 not included in TANE but needed by many routes.

OK that makes sense then. Maybe we need a 'mole' in N3V to upload loads of stuff from the lower builds!

I really do need to stop looking at pictures of places I'm modelling. I was perusing the photo collections of the excellent Napier Chronicles of Deltics at the Cross and noticed a heap of omissions and mistakes I've made to my map:

1/ I've forgotten the platform lamps
2/ I've put the Signal Box adjacent to the wrong platform (anyone know when this was demolished?) - Edit - See below
3/ There's a canopy (!) running along part of Platform 8!
4/ The 'asset' (see above) is used outside the overall roof for at least one OLE gantry span.

The Sig Box was demolished in 1976, according to the Interweb thingy, but I like it so much I'm having it as part of my map!

I love Trainz modelling !!
