The best place to start off with would be disused stations or Wikipedia, personallly speaking the line haasnt changed since Tramlink took over so there would'nt be any major changes between then and now.

how could i use google maps in surveyor so i could get a accurate distances and track/road layouts.
i have made some walks along the pathway between ampere way and Wandle park.
i'll probably start with West Croydon.

Transdem (http://www.rolandziegler.de/StreckeUndL ... z_Engl.htm)is the most useful piece of kit you can have. Accurate terrain and the ability to import Google Earth imagery.

Hi
I recommend http://www.railmaponline.com/UKIEMap.php
shows all original railway lines in the uk, with simplified but still quite detailed diagrams of major junctions/stations
