Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
On the Midshire Mainline route, or on any route that contains these catenary wires, they seem to be gone after a certain distance. My apologies if my description of this problem is confusing, but what proper settings in TS19 would need to be adjusted so the wires are displayed no matter what angle I position the viewport camera? Note that I'm using the lowest settings possible.
Also, a T:ANE version of this route would be absolutely legendary, as the third version has a few problems: From splines going down to the ground instead of leveled at a certain height, to track that is not compatible with the newer versions of Trainz.
I look forward to answering any questions and comments about this problem. Thank you.

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
That's Snowsignal's original freeware catenary and it makes use of an alpha texture on the wires , That's why it disappears when looking at it from certain angles . It works perfectly in older (*Pre TC1) versions of Trainz but from *TC1 onward's the way Alpha's are handled in the Sim was changed , which resulted in quite a few items becoming see through from certain angles .
* It may of been from 2006 onward's that changed Alpha's , I certainly remember a lot of Eastern European coaches that used alpha's to cut windows into solid body sides became see through and ultimately had to be rebuilt by their authors .

Thank you for your reply. What catenary kit should be used to replaced the existing catenary on this route? Note: Using the 25kv MK1 Kit that is available also has this catenary wire issue.

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
When you say 25Kv Mk1 kit are you referring to the kit I've produced ?
In 2019 try turning on compatibility mode :
2019 Start up window : click on settings : DEV tab : Compatibility mode - Select "Maximise Compatibility"
Also in settings : click on the performance tab : Antialiasing - Select 8x
I also note that you state you are using the lowest settings possible , there's a good chance that that is what is introducing the graphical anomalies ?

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
Yes, I think it uses the same catenary wires such as the ones in assets such as "UK Custom Span"
I'll go see if I can set these settings and produce a screenshot afterward with the results. Thank you for the advice. You're very enthusiastic when it comes to the railways of the UK and UK content on Trainz respectively. Keep up the good work!

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
Right, here are my current Trainz 2019 settings:
Shadow quality: Off
Main shadow resolution: 2048
Shader quality: Low
Texture detail: Low
Post processing: Low
Water quality: Low
Detail scenery: Off
Antialiasing: 8x
Detail update rate: Low
Use texture streaming: Unchecked
Use PhysX simulation: Unchecked
Process objects behind camera: Unchecked
Trainz Build: 105096
Full screen: 1366 x 768 : 60 Hz
Vertical sync: None
Daily backups to keep: 7
Time scaling: 100%
Debug render: None
Compatibility mode: Maximise compatibility
Enable advanced debug tools: Unchecked
Show script exception notifications: Unchecked
Log script output: Unchecked
Log script message handling: Unchecked
Opening the route again in Trainz 2019, I get the same problem that is shown in the screenshot. Another problem I have noticed is that coach windows are not transparent, like tinted windows on a motor vehicle.
For my computer graphics, I'm using Intel® HD Graphics 5500 respectively.
I hope this information is useful to fix this problem.

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
To elaborate from my previous post, this is what I mean by train windows being transparent:
The exterior of this Class 156 have windows that don't show the interior through the glass.
The interior has windows that don't show the landscape outside.
Note: This route is absolutely fantastic, but these windows currently are not see through windows.
I hope this helps.

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
This could well be your problem. That's a Broadwell integrated graphics solution, and will struggle with something as demanding as Trainz (the new versions anyway, the older Jet based versions would probably be okay)For my computer graphics, I'm using Intel® HD Graphics 5500 respectively.
TANE likes to eat as much GPU as you can throw at it, and I imagine TRS19 is much the same. It might just be that you're asking too much of your CPU's IGP

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
Hmm, Intel Graphics are at best poor at worst abysmal for games, try enabling texture streaming and set vertical sync to half, these settings are more appropriate for low end graphics.
And try a draw distance of 4000 to start with and could probably drop the antaliasing to 4

Thank you both for your replies. I have changed the settings, but when I have TS19 open on the main menu, the windows on a Class 121 for example are completely solid and not transparent at all.

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
It could well be that that's because you're using integrated graphics. They're pretty weak, and sometimes have weird glitches and artifacts, especially with something graphically demanding, like Trainz

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
My apologies about all this. It seems I don't know how this came about. I can recall that I was trying to tweak the settings of my graphics player to improve game playability on my HP Pavilion laptop. Unfortunately, I was following one of those "YouTube tutorials", where I had to do a disk space cleanup.Mightyena wrote:It could well be that that's because you're using integrated graphics. So here where things stand:
1. Should I change the settings of my graphics player?
2. Should I change the settings of Trainz 2019?
3. Should I try to get a completely new graphics player?
I'm just completely lost on how to solve this problem, and I would like to apologize again for wasting anyone's personal time. Maybe I should send a screenshot of this problem to Trainz Support.
I would like to thank everyone who have been able to help me with this problem so far. I hope this problem can be resolved someday.
Thank you again, and stay awesome.

Re: Trainz Catenary seems to "Disappear"
Great news! I have recently visited the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel settings on my laptop and I made a settings change. Turns out, I changed my Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing setting from "Off" to "Use Application Settings". I then changed the setting Conservative Morphological Anti-Aliasing from "Override Application Settings" to "Turn Off".
When I started Trainz 2019, I'm happy to say that I was able to see the interior of a Class 121 NSE DMBS railcar respectively through the windows. Also, the catenary is seen very well too.
Problem solved!
