I'm one of those rather peverse individuals that likes multiple units, I do also like locos but for different reasons, locos have the noise, spectacle and prescence, akin to a caged beast which provide a sensory experience like no other. Meanwhile units, EMUs have an understated/underdog charm to them, rather more hard to describe, because they're not as documented in enthusiast circles, there's more scope for research. EMUs are also not as common in preservation so they have rarity value as well. EMUs nowadays also tend to be the oldest daily rolling stock in service so have that as well.

If trains were music; locos would be thrash metal, EMUs would be prog.

Same, I'm a modern era MU sort of guy, so that usually puts me in the firing line haha.

If you'd asked me if I'd rather be in a Mk1 behind a 37, or in the MSO of a 319 doing 100, give me the 319 any day.

There's also something to be said for the power behind a modern EMU. I'm sure something like a 700 being driven aggressively out accelerates a few of my friend's cars
