Missing content after a new install.

Post by 2995Valiant »

Hi folks,

I had to do a re-install of 2010 recently (not the program's fault, I broke it!) so backed up my local folder to a USB hard drive, unistalled the game, ran Ccleaner and re-installed. The I used the import content feature in CMP to drag back in the contents of the local folder on the USB drive. I ended up with a huge amount of content "missing". Using the import content feature a second time pulled a bit more of it accross, but not all. Fortunately most of what was missing were dependencies that I could find on the DLS, and otherwise were items that I still had the original CDPs stored elsewhere so nothing was lost.

I've just put a second (quicker) HDD in the PC, and had exactly the same problem (but with different kuids) again - totalling about 1Gb of assets.

Does anyone have this problem, or a sensible theory as to what is going on?

Regards,

Anthony

Probably just needs an EDR running, if not that try copying the contents of the USB drive to hard drive and import from there.

Hi Malc,

Already tried both of those to no avail.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

As it can't make anything worse, try a straight replace of the local folder? I have done that in the past from a copy on another PC when a crash scrambled my main install, it will probably go into a database repair itself then on the next launch.
