I just ran this loco the length of my route with 2mk1s and 4mk2s. On a climb I couldn't get above 25mph. Aswell as this it seems really easy to slip when starting off (Might be my techique though).
On a flat I can't seem to get it going much faster than 50mph either, although the flat wasn't long enough to try properly.
Aswell as this the cab interior seems to lack any working gauges.. Seems a bit of an odd loco considering how good looking it is.
Is this performance right? Or is the enginespec a bit dodgy? It does seem odd considering the 37 rockets up these grades..
Cheers

Are the coaches using builtin specs or are they using Stovepipe's replacements?

Stovepipes. Updated everything on my route to use his, although I can't really tell the difference, I just like to know its a bit more realistic :p.Dean_Forest wrote:Are the coaches using builtin specs or are they using Stovepipe's replacements?
Would this really make much difference considering other locos manage fine?
I tried to find the HP rating of the 24's and noticed they are quite a lot lower powered than 37s than I had assumed, but still a few coaches should be nothing to them?

I too have noticed that there is only the throttle lever for the S&C 24 cab. Even after the updates I've downloaded.

Re: S&C Class 24 underpowered?
For all you CAB drivers, I've just uploaded an alternative class 24 enginespec to the DLS, which should be available in a day or so.
I found that the S&C enginespec has the wrong adhesion value, and is somewhat underpowered in the mid-speed range.
Now if I could just get the class 37 wipers to work in TS10/12 I'd be happy.........

Ah I am highly grateful for your efforts .stovepipe wrote:For all you CAB drivers, I've just uploaded an alternative class 24 enginespec to the DLS, which should be available in a day or so.

I also fixed there being no needles on the dials in cab mode by reverting to an earlier version, which I can't find any problems with yet.. So

Re: S&C Class 24 underpowered?
Hi David,
Can't really comment with regard to the S&C 24.(As I still like my 2006)
However I do remember the 24 and 25's when in service on BR (Yes I am that old, lol), I know the drivers used to moan about them being somewhat underpowered, compared to a 25.
Their acceleration wasn't as sharp as a 25 either and wheelslip was a problem especially with a heavy freight. Probably for this reason they weren't very common on passenger duties, apart from the early period of introduction (dieselisation) when 1100/1150 hp was considered adequate.
So maybe the S&C version is nearer the real thing than you think!!
Regards Chris A

Re: S&C Class 24 underpowered?
The gear ratio is higher on the 24's than the 25's so if anything they should be quicker of the mark, and better at climbing hills. It also explains their lower top speed of 75mph, compared to 90 mph with the class 25.
They did get used in pairs for years hauling 750ton trains of iron ore from Tyne Dock up the hill to Consett steelworks, on gradients as steep as 1 in 56, so they can't have been that bad.......
