Content not working in Surveyor

Post by rail206 »

Hi all,
I started a route on another computer then emailed the CDPs over to a laptop. The route installed fine so I hit download on the Contentmanager and the missing dependencies downloaded fine - no errors. But when I launch the route in surveyor none of the installed content is there. I also tried downloading Midshire Mainline & Wendsey as most of the dependencies are from there, but they also don't appear. Also in Contentmangager the route shows 'view errors & warnings' but the box is empty. :? :? Any help would be great.
Thanks,

How many Trainz versions do you have in your laptop? Sometimes CDPs can go everywhere where you don't want them.

Try doing a database repair and see what you get.

Those are actually what the database repair has fixed, all you need to worry about is that no new errors appear in Content Manager.

Remembered to unselect the show favourite content in surveyor option? think you have that in 2009 SP4? Under Options Surveyor Settings and deselect the Yellow star in the route Menu.

Hi rail,

I know this might sound daft, but when you copied the routes over you must have comitted the actual route. But did you also commit all the dependent assets as well?

Trust me I did this once and felt a right idiot.

Hi Chris,
I don't actually know but I just clicked commit in the Edit section of the menu bar. Trainz isn't actually starting at the moment, it freezes on the loading bar which happens alot for some reason - doesn't happen on the other computer. But it did install Nexus's 395 and the dependencies fine about 2 days ago.

Oh and Clam, I have just found out 40040 isn't SP4, so now I am patching to SP4. Weird as I'm sure when I patched on the other computer it said 40040 was SP4 or something.

Right, now the route is showing as having missing dependencies, although I have downloaded them 3 times today :?

Check that the dependant assets are not faulty, they may have missing dependencies of their own.

Hi Rail,

Seem's odd there uninstalling. To confirm we are reading it correctly the routes concerned have been copied to a laptop?

The laptop, what is the operating system used:- xp, vista or windows 7? If it's these, content should save ok.

If it's the new windows 8 then you might need to use administrator level for content to save/modify etc. Not sure if trainz2009 is configured for windows 8.
