Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
I have installed both TS12 and TANE and up to now I have had no problems. TANE runs very well but I really can't see any difference in performance with TS12. I have to admit though that I didn't do a new build with TANE in mind, I wanted to be ready for Arkham Knight. I often think I may be one of the lucky ones, I have been using Trainz since I stumbled across a demo version of TRS2004 on a PC Gamer cover disc years ago and I have used every version since then and have never had any problems.

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
Good stuff And James I was thinking about getting an AMD FX 8320 but it's not on nodding terms with a high end Intel I5 processor so could someone make up a mock upgrade so I could work the prices please.
Thanks James

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
If you want to research pricing, I recommend using Pcpartpicker, as it has a very useful 'system builder'. You can use it to put together a system and check compatibility of the parts and prices in various stores. Just go to 'Start a system build' and select the components you want.

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
2GB GTX960's are anything from £140 to £175 ish and are not far short of the same performance of a GTX680, way above a 750TI in performance.
Zotac are probably the cheapest reliable brand if you can't stretch to an EVGA.

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
I have a GTX750Ti and I have had no problems with it at all. To be really honest, for the "casual gamer", this is all you'd want. I wouldn't recommend spending £150+ on anything other than a processor at once.

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
That looks pretty similar to what I'm intending to upgrade to soon, now I'll need a PC capable of running T:ANE...

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
I'm not sure that the sound card is needed though, Kenneth. If the GTX960 is anything like my GTX780Ti then it has onboard HD sound in built. Maybe Malc (clam1952) could tell you more.

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
That's the onboard sound chip in the list, not a separate card - according to Asus its Realtek® ALC891 8-Channel High Definition Audio.
Onboard sound is pretty much as good as a separate Sound card anyway these days unless you are an audio freak.

Re: Computer Upgrade/New Build
Best me to it. I was going to say its the built-in sound to the mother board. My current audio is from a Realtek unit but routed via an old Aiwa hi-fi which has great control over how the sounds are emitted. Will be using it with new set-up.clam1952 wrote:That's the onboard sound chip in the list, not a separate card - according to Asus its Realtek® ALC891 8-Channel High Definition Audio.
