Guard's 'cupboard'

Post by PFX »

As some of you may know already, I volunteer at my local heritage line http://www.downrail.co.uk/. Our regular brake van is currently out of service after the wind blew the roof of part of it and the replacement, a 1955 Park Royal carriage, is taking its place. This carriage was converted to a brake from a standard carriage. The guard's compartment is a former toilet as far as I'm aware. So for your viewing pleasure, here's a snap of me in the cludgie, and a picture taken from the seat I'm in. Bit compact and bijou compared to the old guard's van. Turst me, it looks a hell of a lot bigger in the panoramic shot.
