What do we need more of?
The idea of this thread is just to list what UK scenery items people think we need more of/currently lack. I'll start.
Buildings
- medium/large station buildings, especially for terminal stations
- generic 1960/70s College/University buildings
- generic 1960/70s hospital buildings
- tenement houses (I'll get around to these, honestly...)
- large supermarket buildings (Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys)
- smaller supermarket buildings (Aldi, Lidl)
- small/medium retail units (Screwfix, Toolstation, Europcar, Travis Perkins, Jewsons)
- generic retail park buildings, hosting the above businesses plus B&Q, Homebase, PC World, etc
Roads
- 2/4-lane Victorian style road bridges for crossing rivers (Blackfriars Bridge by klambert is a good example).
Other
- Motorway box tunnels - I've started working on these. They're not going to be true tunnels in the Trainz sense, but simply splines that you place above the the track and lay the road on top. There's loads of examples of these all over the UK.
Any more for any more?

Jeez, you've opened a can of worms there James!
The more station buildings we have, the better.
My particular thing is trackside infrastructure so any additions that can add to the detail there are welcome.

I agree with all the above, ultra modern houses seems to be lacking too.

Well, lets get talking about it. If we don't do it, who will?PFX wrote:Jeez, you've opened a can of worms there James!

Scenery items are mostly just boxes, and I'm good at making them.

Ultra modern houses are easy they're just a bland pastiche of Georgian designs.Marky7890 wrote:I agree with all the above, ultra modern houses seems to be lacking too.
I'd say Ultra modern office blocks.

Re: What do we need more of?
It feels like it must be nearly 100 years ago since somebody made any decent level crossing gates for Trainz (and I do mean gates, not barriers.) A new set would be nice, maybe even a sort of kit where you can just keep adding a bit on to make an arrangement say from one to about 6 or 8 tracks. It would be nice to have a choice of decent "admin" type buildings and messroom facilities for use on loco sheds too. We have few choices of those at the moment.
Furthermore, of the buildings listed by people above, it would be nice if the domestic stuff could be made as splines. It's agony sometimes fitting individual houses to a scene, although the same can be said for shops "on the high street" in a town too so maybe a few splines of high street shops as well.
Cheers
Dave

Some 'brutalist' 60's era concrete eyesore buildings that are still found all over the country.
80's & 90's era P'Way stuff (BR Vans, Unimogs, etc).
70'-90's era cars. There plenty of really old cars available - and plenty of really modern cars - but very little in-between.

Re: What do we need more of?
I concur, that's been the most challenging aspect of setting up Stratford depot, generally I just require mostly single story 60s brick buildings. The Markinch buildings go some way though.cyberdonblue wrote: It would be nice to have a choice of decent "admin" type buildings and messroom facilities for use on loco sheds too. Re: What do we need more of?
There are a few signal gantry types missing which could prove useful, 80s OHLE ones, the little magnets (if that's what they are) for OHLE neutral zones, level crossing STRail pads with road markings (the pre-built ATLS crossings are good but the road texture quality is not great), a signal cable spline (I currently use ones which aren't thick enough), PW lighting, decent ground frames. I'm sure I can think of more. They usually come to me when I'm trying to do something.Marky7890 wrote:What sort of trackside infrastructure?

I've made quite a lot of high street shops and houses which are featured on this blog. I could certainly try and come up with some of the things on this list like retail parks:
