Well considering its competition as a modern era loco is the 68/88 or the 70, it's definitely at the top of the list so far!

Why does it remind me of a Class 92 but with a more rounded modern front?

It looks to me just like the locomotive version of the continental FLIRT cabs

Yep. I bet all this is is just a continental loco but with UK safety systems fitted, MPH speedo and the body made a bit more skinnier to fit the UK loading gauge.Mightyena wrote:It looks to me just like the locomotive version of the continental FLIRT cabs

It is indeed; it's derived from the Stadler Euro Dual. That means it's a cousin of Classes 88 and 93; I wonder why they didn't use the same cab design (despite all the hate it gets, I quite like it).slenderman7676 wrote:I bet all this is is just a continental loco but with UK safety systems fitted, MPH speedo and the body made a bit more skinnier to fit the UK loading gauge.

Re: Is this a handsome loco or what?
Why they didn't use the same cab: The continental variants got a different cab as they're moving to their own style rather than keep to the old Vossloh Espania styling. And also safety regulations have changed considerably from their 2007 cab design that the 68/88 have (yes, it's that old. Mainly copied over from the EuroLight that never really got popular which in turn derives from the standard Euro platform they had going)ScottAS2 wrote:It is indeed; it's derived from the Stadler Euro Dual.
