Re: 23/07 - July 2023 Screenshots
Hi all, thought I'd move to mid Cornwall, for a bit of work, then link it all up......
The Cornish Riviera crosses Largin viaduct, this was reduced to a single line along with two others in 1964.
The Chief Civil Engineer concluded that in the future the viaducts wouldn't withstand two trains passing at speed
On the final approach to Bodmin Road, The signal box at Bodmin was still in operation thus semaphores still reign
Pulling into Bodmin Road, note the bracket home postioned right in front of the footbridge.
This was before the Bodmin and Wenford came into exsistance and thus platform 3 has no track and the siding was still connected to the Main Up at the east end of the station
Hoods arrive from the clay dries at Wenford Bridge. This was before the car park was developed and the station renamed Parkway.
The car park today sat as rough ground for many years as a siding once ran through it to the clay dries at Bodmin road
Ex works Milk Marketing tankers sit at the diary as a local service speeds through the station at Lostwithiel
A local service speeds through Lostwithiel, The Up station building still stands whereas the Down has been demolished and replaced with a basic shelter.
Hoods were often dropped in the sidings ready for a trip down to Fowey

Hi all, just a few from around the houses
A semi-fast service pulls out of St Austell, the old station building still sits on the down platform
A thankyou to Mark for the old BR era lamps with signboards
Along with Penzance, St Austell also had a Motorail terminal. Carflats are stabled ready for loading. This service eventually ceased in the mid 80's
Up to Bodmin and a local service approaches the station from the East during the early evening.
A few semaphores in Cornwall were placed on the far right hand side for sighting purposes from back in the steam days.
A big thankyou to Chrisaw for knocking up these backing plates which were present on a few signals in the area.
Before Sperritt Tunnel was built as part of the Dobwalls bypass this was the view as a London bound HST crosses over the A390
A 37 applies the power on the crossover at Liskeard to gain the down main with Hoods for Fowey.
One of the sidings was in regular use to stable hoods, but the other two were rarely used after the shed was removed
The 125mph HST creeps over the Royal Albert at 15mph, wheel squeal is the order of the day as it runs over the checkrail
As the HST rolls into Devon it travels along this single track section which was double until 1973.
I believe this was singled (down removed) when the bridge over the LSWR line at St Budeaux was changed and Plymouth Panel took over from the Royal Albert signal box
A down parcels is about to head over Keyham viaduct, In the background sits Ford viaduct of the old LSWR.
Even though the line closed in 1964 the viaduct didn't get demolished until 1986

Re: 23/07 - July 2023 Screenshots
Back to the Camborne area and the Roskear branch which was closed in 1963. The remaining line was then shortened to serve the works and so the siding was sold to Holman Bros in 1970. The siding was in use by Holman Bros works and Fraser Metals until around 1986. It was eventually all removed in 1987 and a Tesco carpark now sits where the line once ran.
Some absolutely beautiful buildings were also demolished to make way for said Tesco and it remains a bone of contention in the area to this day
The loco moves forward out of the works with mining compressors to head towards Frasers metals to collect the loaded wagons in the loop, then shunt back into the works to collect the brake van.
The line was dead straight from the curve off the mainline into the works, with the loop for the scrap merchant added in 1965.
Note the weighbridge used by Fraser metals
Ready to proceed.... with the consist complete the loco gains access to the main line from Roskear signal box
The loco runs 'wrong line' for a few yards to the crossover.
Over the crossover to gain the Down main, then onto St Erth to run-round and then eventually head 'up country' as we say in Cornwall.
Even though the Holmans siding was removed in 87 this crossover which was primarily used by this traffic lasted much longer eventually being torn out in 2012.
With the removal of this Roskear lost it's last set of points it operated
Onto St Erth.....Heading over the crossing at Camborne station one of three in the space of half a mile in fact. The large lineside building was also part of Holman Bros, which had many sites in the town.

Don't know if this is the right place to put this but here is my attempt of Maybank from the BVE Route Network West Midlands. (Not looking forward to doing the terrain work as going to be a right pain to get right)
