Recommended Steam Trains

Post by Smiley »

Hi all.

I'm looking to download a bunch of steam trains from the DLS, and I wouldn't mind some recommendations from you guys.
I've just downloaded a version of The Flying Scotsman and gave it a quick run, and will download the other versions too, but I'm wondering what else is on there worth having, UK style.

I'm looking for all types; Larger steam locos for big runs, and smaller steam locos for smaller runs/yard work.

Something else I'm looking for, and I might as well add it here, are old, rusty engines, steam or diesel.
I've found the class 50, but haven't been able to find any others.

Incidentally, didn't the Flying Scotsman used to be included in Trainz?
I know I've been in and out of Trainz for the past 17 years (mostly out for the last 10), but I'm sure it was included.
Did N3V do this to keep the installation size down, and uploaded them to the DLS instead?

Cheers guys.

Search under usernames edh6 (will give you many Flying Scotsman variants), trainboi1, knucklesnvector, jayholland & of course skipper1945 for a superb collection of steam locos on the DLS.

Sorry, can't help with old rusty engines.

Good luck

Gam :D

Cheers Gam.
Going to make a start going through those right now.
Nice one.

On the topic of old, rusty engines and wagons, are others interested in these?
I fancy reskinning a few, with permission of course, and if there's interest, I'll upload them to the DLS, rather than just keeping them for personal use.
On that point, can't remember if I need N3V's permission to reskin built-in content or not.

Cheers.

Ah, the key word being "scrap". lol
I searched for Old and Rusty, but didn't think of scrap.

Cheers.
Plenty to look through.

Geez Gam.
You weren't wrong.

So many Steam trains, as well as loads of old wagons and carriages.
I used to have a lot of these, and I'm so glad I've found them again.
And I'd also forgotten about all the Ffestiniog stuff that was out there.

Cheers again guys.
