Locomotive as a person watching...?
Having done a lot of work on my main route, to avoid burn-out I've decided to take a week or two off it, and make a one-board diorama layout for fun.
I intend to use portals and rules to populate the scene with automatic and random schedules for trains, and would like to be able to position the player to watch from a certain position.
Back in the day, there were a few "locos" which were actually blank locos, with no engine sound, which when placed on invisible track, would allow the player to look around with the mouse from a specific vantage point.
I have no idea what to search for on the DLS for these, and was also wondering if there were any other similar things available (I seem to remember that someone was once talking about a signal box loco that allowed you to watch from inside a signal box, but that was a looong time ago, and I'm not sure if it was ever made.
Cheers.

Possibly this? <kuid2:96148:94021:1> Signalman - Invisible
or
<kuid2:4468:9997:1> Signal Box - which is a loco as a signal box
<kuid:193148:1198> Signal Box with interior view - similar to above
Pretty grim looking signal boxes though!

For stations and lineside views, I tend to use
Male Pedestrian - <KUID2:46819:23:1>
Female_Pedestrian - <KUID:46819:38>
For a more general version, I imagine searching for "invisible train" or something of the like would probably be your best bet?

It's easy in TRS19, you have Walk and Roam Cameras that work in driver so you can just plant yourself in any spot and just watch.

Re: Locomotive as a person watching...?
Thanks Malc and James.
I've just tried one of the signal boxes you listed, and downloaded (but not tried yet) the pedestrians, and I think they'll work perfectly for what I want.
Didn't know about a walking/roaming mode in TRS2019 Malc.
Is it any good?
What I mean is, does it feel like walking; is there any collision detection with objects (probably just the ground I imagine), and do you get to look around 360 degrees from where you stand?
If I ever upgrade (chances are low), sounds like it could be useful.
Cheers guys.
EDIT: On second thoughts, maybe those pedestrian ones won't be useful after all. Exactly what I was looking for, except it has a mesh when you're in cab mode. Turned around to see a huge face looking right at me. Frightened the bloody life out of me!

Re: Locomotive as a person watching...?
The walking is basically at ground level / grid level and you get full 360 degree view control, left right and up down, also have drone mode as well.

Re: Locomotive as a person watching...?
Sounds pretty decent.
Just did a little research on it, and it seems it started out as a Trainz Plus feature (gold) that was released 2 years ago, but stated that it would make it into normal versions of TRS2019.
2 Years later, it's locked behind the Platinum version, according their current sales pitch on the Trainz Portal.
Shame.
It's cheap enough anyway, but it's precisely this sort of action that made me walk away from Trainz 3 or 4 years ago when talk of this subscription/tiered system reared it's ugly head.
I'll take a look at Trainz 2022 when it comes out, and see if they've improved their business model by then.
In the meantime, I'm still enjoying Tane.
More than ever in fact.
Cheers.
