The former Haymarket coalyard. Abandoned and redeveloped at the end of the 80s.

A Strathclyde 156 heads for Glasgow via Cumbernauld while a Class 47 push/pull heads for Edinburgh on the Edinburgh - Glasgow mainline.

Just a quick update in the absence of any progress shots. I've been working away at another route for a bit of variety. It'll be a fully electrified AC route and an updated version of an old classic. I'll be switching between that and the E2G route more to maintain my own interest than anything else. I've posted numerous shots of the other route in the general screenshot forum if anyone is interested. I imagine anyone who has been around Trainz for any time will know the route in question.

Cheers,
Innis

I'm taking a break from Midshire/Rosworth and came back to the E2G route for a while. Working around Larbert Jcn, this should be a very familiar sight for many. As I'm trying to cover a fairly broad timescale, I've included the Falkirk Wheel for a bit of scenic value.

Thought I'd post a few overview shots to show progress around Waverley and Haymarket stations. It's tedious work, but necessary to give the impression of a large urban area. I'm not sure how far out to go from the track though as everything I've been doing has been fairly accurate to real world locations. Too little and scenery will be too sparse, too much and the route will never be finished. My thoughts are just to put in green areas and copy/paste some buildings. Any suggestions are welcome.

Cheers,
Innis

Looking east over Haymarket depot, towards the station itself. The green strip crossing from left to right is the former Caledonian railway line to Granton and Barnton. This also ran along the road to the right of the mainline (now the Western Approach Road) and into Princes Street station.

Image

Now facing west, with Tyncastle and Murryfield stadiums visible beyond the station area.

Image

Looking south east from the West End of Princes Street, the castle being the dominant scenery here, with Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags as yet untextured in the background.

Image

Looking east from above The Mound, with Waverley station largely complete. The eastern end of the route will terminate here, portals in the Carlton hill tunnels providing traffic from beyond Edinburgh.

Looking very impressive and remarkably accurate Innis. You should be really proud of this work of art.

Cheers

Alas, not a route update, but I'd just like to say this is not vapourware. I'm currently trying to finish off Midshire Vale and once I do, my efforts will be concetrated on Embra tae Glesga.

Been adding scenery (highly laborious!) around Newbridge.

A Glasgow bound service crossing Almond valley viaduct.

Passing Hillwood quarry with the M8 overbridge in the foreground.

Looks superb. Is that the Bathgate line branching off to the right?

*Edit* - yes it is, found it on Google Maps.
