Greetings all. I have a fairly trivial query regarding accuracy of scenery on routes. If you've seen my recent screenshots, you'll know I've been doing a single board route based in the later BR period from 80s through to 90s. I've tried to avoid using anything I'd consider too modern but this leaves me with one problem; a distinct lack of vehicles. Currently the car parks and driveways of Westcott are empty. Normally I'd use a range of cars but these are all a bit noughties and I've had little success in locating premium vehicles such as Austin Maestros, Ford Fiestas, Opel Mantas and the like. The question really, is if I use my normal choice of assets, is it likely to detract from the era?
Cheers,
Innis

Re: Scenic historical accuracy
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Most routes have something that features bits of landscape or buildings from outside their era because there simply isn't enough content from specific eras to fit. A lot of 80s / 90's routes feature shops from the 2000s onwards for example. A lot of 60's era routes have really old cars or more modern cars - with barely anything from the 60's, etc.
I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

Grand. I'll press ahead then. I'm going to try doing a session for this route too which is a first for me.

I knew I'd seen something about old cars. That'll do nicely thanks Karl, though I'm not sure how many of them lasted until the mid 80s, let alone the 90s...

I think a fair few soldiered on, purely due to duct tape, egg yolk and tights.PFX wrote:I knew I'd seen something about old cars. That'll do nicely thanks Karl, though I'm not sure how many of them lasted until the mid 80s, let alone the 90s...

My late mothers lasted until 2000 before it desintigrated, however she only did 5 miles a week in it! Horrible thing to drive as well, was an automatic.PFX wrote:I knew I'd seen something about old cars. Re: Scenic historical accuracy
I decided to start investigating. In Feb 2016, there were still 295 Marinas on the go. Jan 2019, 374 with a further 498 on a SORN. The earlier figure didn't include SORNs so some of them must have made it back onto the roads. The most interesting fact is that they were indirectly responsible for the rise of Hyundai.
