What are you working on?

Post by re57k »

Are you working on a reskin?
Maybe you've just got the hang of Blender and are excited to show it off?
Maybe you're in the midst of creating more sessions and would like to show off your complex timetabling?
Or maybe it's none of the above and are just curious about what's everyone been doing these days (like I am)?

Whatever it is, please, I'd love to hear it  :D.

(In reality, I'm just trying to get some discussion started since I see quite a few people online throughout the day, but new posts are often very rare.)

Since I am the thread starter, maybe I should show off what I have at the moment.

I'm not abandoning anything else, just wanted to take a break and experiment with some things.

I'm building some Tube stations as there isn't a lot of choice on the DLS and I can't see any street level entrance buildings (for deep level stations) on the DLS. These are for my fictional Tube lines and I am hoping to build some of the iconic art deco stations designed by Charles Holden in the 1930s.
The first is coming on nicely...I will need a lot of help getting this up and running once I have finished the modelling stage. I think there is a generic passenger station script that can make it work as an industry.

That is awesome Gary!
Though it could just be me, but for some reason the images aren't embedding properly. I was able to view them though by right clicking the image and clicking "Open image in new tab".

Edit: postimg has an awesome copy-paste option for forums that automatically makes them small thumbnails, just click the "Share" button and there should be one under "Thumbnail for Forums". Best of all, it's clickable and clicking it should automatically take you to the larger sized image hosted there.

Cracking work Reverie, and same to you GaryReggae! :)

I'm working on multiple routes for trainz:
One is based on the Great Central Mainline from Manchester Piccadilly to London Marylebone of what it may look like if it wasn't a victim of Beeching cuts, also going to add the Chiltern Mainline (and the 'Snow Hill Lines'), this route will have a fictional line connecting London Marylebone With London Fenchurch Street (with all of the C2C network), the Chinnor and Princes Risborough heritage line at Princes Risborough, also my representation on how the Severn Valley Railway From Kidderminster may look if it still went to Shrewsbury. This one I lost two years ago.
Another is of the South West Mainline (London to Waterloo) and West of England Line (Basingstoke to Exeter St. Davids), with future plans to add other South Western Railway lines aswell.
Another is of the Merseyrail and North Wales Mainline, which hasn't been worked on for a while now (but isn't abandoned). This is another one I also lost two years ago.
Another is of the Local Lines out of Birmingham New Street, and possibly with the West Coast Mainline added in the future aswell. Also another one I lost when I lost a lot of my stuff on Trainz

Also there are youtes I've not started on yet that I have plans of doing:
The Midland Metro with all of its extentions including proposed and cancelled ones. (I may try and Andy Street's 2040 metro plan aswell).
The Manchester Tram network (all lines).
The Cambrian Lines from Shrewsbury To Aberystwyth and Pwllheli via Machynlleth.
The French high speed rail network, looking to do all lines.
The West Anglia Mainline & Great Eastern Mainline. (With future plans to add all of the Greater Anglia network aswell).
I'm also planning to do my interpretation of the London Underground network aswell

I'm not planning to release yet, but that may change as the tracks and platforms of each layout is done (with futute plans to update my routes with decorations). The way I create my layouts is just by looking at Google Maps on my phone and copying the tracks of the route as I see it on there, as a result the gradients will not be correct. Also the reason I have so many projects going on at once is because I sometimes get bored of working on a specific route, and when I do I can just simply save my progress and start forking on another route, which helps keep my interest in Trainz going strong. I'll try work out how to upload a screenshot the next time I'm on my computer.

That's extremely unfortunate to hear that you've lost 75% of the routes you had. I admire the perseverance however!

Hahah! Same here. I feel guilty starting so many and finishing so little... The one that I started 3 years ago, my Class 91, is still going and still remains my main project. Then I did a Class 373 which is still shelved at the moment, then a Eurotunnel Class 9, then recently the Class 365 and now the Adelante. Don't get me started with the Indonesian trains that I started but abandoned almost immediately.

And if that's not enough, I occasionally get tired with 3D and do some other things instead... graphic design, art, static web development, and pretty much anything that I can learn in a week. So yeah, you're not alone in that.

Just drag and drop the screenshot here, and then move onto the "Attachments" tab. I think you have to use the full editor for it. Then to the right of the file name, there's an almost invisible text that says, "Place inline" and that's how you add it to your post.

Then you can also use image hosting services and the like and use the [img] tag, but if you do this, make sure it's a direct link to the file itself (make sure the url ends in the file extension, e.g. .png or .jpg).

Thanks Reverie. I'll give it a go now, hopefully it works.

For those who have visited this station, can you guess what it is called? (Clue: The Premier Service (formerly known as Y Gerallt Gymro) stop here).
